ZESCO Utd Hand Caretaker Coach Chembo 3-Year Deal
Zesco United Football Club has handed caretaker coach Tenant Chembo a three year contract after an impressive six months at the helm of the title chasing side.
And Zesco Limited has retained the Kenneth Muteto led executive for another three years saying they have been impressed with the manner the club has been run in the last three years.
The soft spoken Chembo who was given a six months initial contract has since been confirmed in a full time capacity.
Chembo took over from Wedson Nyirenda who parted ways with the Ndola side at the beginning of the 2013 season.
Club chairman Kenneth Muteto told a media briefing that the executive had met on Thursday and decided to retain Chembo.
“We had Mr Chembo on a six months contract, we met as an executive yesterday and decided to confirm him as head coach,” Muteto said.
“We are happy with the way the team has been performing. We are looking forward to a good season.”
Zesco lies second on the log on 24 points, two shy of leaders Nkana.
Zesco Limited Human Resource Manager Mooka Mumba said the executive will continue for another three years.
Mumba said they had also romped in two ladies in the executive.
The two new entrants are Fridah Sambo and Mwila Mfula who take over from James Mwaba and Joseph Mulenga who have since retired.

I knew Tenant Chembo as a young midfield schemer playing for Ndola United. He then moved to Vitafoam United before trekking to South Africa. He moved to South Africa at a time when it was not common among players to do so. Some people say Tenant Chilumba got his name from Tenant Chembo. They say his real name is George Chilumba. All said, Tenant Chembo was such a marvelous player to watch. He could have been a regular member of the chipolopolo had he not trekked to South Africa. Best wishes as Zesco united head coach.

Yes you are right”The Man”,Tenant chilumba is George chilumba ask any one from mufulira were he grew up and he used to admire Tenant chembo and adopted his style of playing as well as his name.
