Ghana regained control in Group D of the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers after a 2-0 win in Lesotho on Sunday.
The Black Stars have a one point lead now and have toppled Zambia, who were held to a shock 1-1 draw in Ndola against Sudan.
Ghana knew victory in Maseru will better their chances of progressing to the final qualifying round and did not disappoint.
After reeling under pressure in the opening 40 minutes, the 2010 World Cup quarter-finalists opened the scoring against the run of play.
AC Milan ace Sulley Muntari dinked in a free-kick which was headed on by Jonathan Mensah for centre-back John Boye to finish off.
The visitors held onto the lead to go into the break the happier of the two sides.
After the interval, Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah pulled out striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom and brought on 2009 FIFA U20 star Dominic Adiyiah.
Also, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu substituted Muntari, who fumed and questioned the technical bench for that decision.
The latter refused to join his colleagues on the bench and walked straight into the dressing room.
Lesotho coach Leslie Notsi was forced to replace first choice goalkeeper Mohau Kuenane just after the hour mark for picking up an injury.
Phasumane Kholuoe took his position and in the 85th minute he picked up a ball from his net after failing to stop Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan.
Ghana now need a draw against Zambia at home in September to advance to the third qualifying round of the qualifiers.

Football is not like mathematics where equating of angles like angle A equal is to angle B and angle C is equal to angle B, then angle C is equal to angle A. This is not true in football. Ghana can beat Sudan and Zambia can draw with Sudan. … Mathematically Ghana can beat Zambia but in soccer terms Zambia can beat Ghana if all odds are in favor with Zambia. May it be so.

WE SHOULD JUST NOT BE IN DENIAL. GHANA HAVE DISPLAYED THE TRUE CHARACTER OF A CHAMPION – WINNING 2 HOME AND 2 AWAY GAMES AND LOSING ON 1 OUTING TO ZAMBIA. WHAT MORE IS THERE FOR THEM TO PROVE THAT THEY ARE MORE DESERVING OF A WORLD CUP PLACE IN THE BRAZIL FIFA 2014 FINALS? AFRICA WILL BENEFIT MORE FROM A GHANAIAN REPRESENTATION THAN CHIPOLOPOLO – WE KEEP FIRING AT THE ENEMY AS WELL AS AT OURSELVES ALL THE TIME!!!!!!

Complacency got the better of our players after scoring. A grave error which has undoubtedly cost us a ticket to the play offs. I see a mission impossible in Kumasi

Everything about Zambian football is totally gambling including the technical bench, it is full of chancers without skills. This coach will not take us anywhere also the arrogant FAZ. Why let the coach mess up Clifford Mulenga chances of playing for his country ?
Bwana Kambwili, it is like now you are now eating from the same plate with FAZ. Keep Clifford away from the team then you are not going anywhere.
After beating Lesotho, hell broke loose in terms of celebrations but you got the shock of your lives when war torn Sudan held you to a draw.

What can Clifford bring to the National team which he has not brought to his own Club in South Africa where he plays his football on the bench? Let us not try to bring some illusions to the Zambia’s failure to qualify to the World cup. The fact still remains that we have no capability to go and play at the World Cup that is just too big a task for our players. Let us simply rally behind Ghana and support them all the way.Abaya bantu baya just accept.

These wanting to lie to themselves should live with the fact that as much as we may wanted the national team to make its maiden appearance at the World Cup, we messed up our chances from the first game. Lets forget the World Cup because no matter how much divine intervention we may seek God listens to everyone. Ghana are just too good.

Zambia does not deserve to represent Africa in the WC 2014 because at WC no team would field in an unqualifyied player like Sudan where you get cheap points.
In Kumasi, in Match Ghana is going wallow Zambia not less than 4 goals.

I cannot afford to watch Zambia at the World Cup being white washed by skillful players 12 goals to 1. Just let the best African teams go and represent us. Kuti kwaya ba umusebanya ububi sana.

Ghana has always put a good game but we always win them so to bad that the world class team Ghana will not go to world cup because of Zambia which do not even deserve it looking at the game they are playing.

The problem in our case is the zambian fans themselves, most of you here are coward football fans who want the easy way out of things, lets assume zambia beat lesotho away by 20-0 and sudan in zambia 8-0 that would have made us top by three points as at now with an agregate of +30,what difference would it make?ghana only need a win by a 2 goal margin and they are through because it is based on head to head results and i said this a long time ago before qualifiers started that zambia and ghana will be decided on head to head and we deserve to qualify for just being in contention up to this point and if you wanted to qualify without beating ghana at their home ground then you must stop watching football,to win afcon we had to beat a well supporting tough host team then we beat sudan, ghana and ivory coast, you fans would have wanted to avoid ghana and ivory coast but you forget that to be the deserving beat the best…you fans are why HR doesn’t give interviews, you are iritating and demotivating and only think football is always there for zambia to win when even brazil loses.Shame

CACINE i understand your disappointment but i think many people are missing the point…football is won after 90 minutes and it has 3 results, win, draw or lose.It is not determined by pre match fear,if it was we wouldn’t even watch it or be fans.

we need a two months intensive proram in europe and south america. our players lack mental, tactical and physical skills. therefore they need to be in an environment for them to compete with very strong clubs like flamingo, dortmund, etc. new players need enough international exposure, not with our local clubs.professional players not playing like mayuka, mbola, sunzu, kalaba, etc need to be invited for serious training so that they gain momentum again.
