Nawakwi Tells Government Not to Take ZAMBEF Scandal Issue Lightly

Nawakwi

Nawakwi

Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) President Edith Nawakwi has appealed to government not to take the reported importation of beef products containing aromatic aldehydes by Zambeef causally.
Aromatic aldehydes are organic chemical compounds that contain a carbon hydroxide radical or group and are used as precursor chemicals in the pharmaceutical and plastics industries.

Ms Nawakwi says the issue deserves urgent attention from the ministry of health.

She stresses that the chemicals might affect the health of many unsuspecting consumers.

Ms Nawakwi explains that there is need for the health inspectors to investigate the reports and ensure that all Zambeef warehouses are thoroughly inspected.

In fact let Winter Kabimba jump into this ordeal.I rest my case.

recently there was a very big scandal in the uk about horse meat. Who knows maybe we were also fed horse meat imported from the uk. This is a very complex issue which should be investigated thoroughly. All well meaning zambians should rally behind this and no politics please. All investigative wings should swing into action immediately instead of waiting for a presidential directive. We are all affected because we buy cheap meat from zambeef. Let the law take its course regardless of who is involved. I rest my case.

Lets quickly know where we are otherwise its terrible and one wonders why exactly that chemical is being used and what ZBS has been doing. Also then who else is doing the same because they may not b the only ones!!!!

Please switch to vegetables!! Beans has the same or even better amount of proteins than meat and no other complications that come with meat.
The humble bean is quite the super food: packed with calcium, iron, potassium, B vitamins, plus about a quarter of the protein and half the fiber recommended daily for adults—all in a single serving. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, beans may even lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels, which can help boost heart health. Beans also do double duty in the food pyramid as both a vegetable and a protein.

Rumours have been circulating for two years now that zambeef rear their chicken for two weeks only and then inject them with a certain chemical for them to be big instantly. I, personally took these as mere rumours. Other rumours still circulating are that even street vendors are using the same Aromatic aldehydes for preserving their fresh fish, meat and chicken. May the authorities kindly investigate thoroughly all these rumours which circulated even before the zambeef saga and confirm whether they are true or not. It is suprising that these rumours are turning to be true. Let the Ministry of Health inform the nation on the statistics of cancer, for example five years.

There are literally hundreds of different varieties of aromatic aldehydes and ketones manufactured by the chemical industry that are used to produce plastics and dyes. While they are commonly used to synthesize other chemicals for use in agriculture and pharmaceuticals as well, their most important consumer application, aside from formaldehyde and acetone production is as perfumes and flavoring agents.
Several widely used examples of aromatic aldehydes are obtained as natural derivatives, with benzaldehyde being derived from almonds, cinnamaldehyde from cinnamon, and carvone from caraway seeds as a spearmint flavor. Vanillin is another example that is obtained from vanilla beans, or can be prepared synthetically, and is known commercially as 3-methoxy-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, (CH3O)(OH)C6H3CHO. Aromatic esters are related compounds with hydroxyl alcohol groups, which are also used as lighter weight fragrances in consumer products.
Esters, ketones, and aromatic aldehydes also have chemical components that make them important in human biological functions. Carbohydrates such as sugars and starches are based on compounds that contain ester hydroxyl groups, or aldehydes and ketones. Steroids produced by the human body, such as testosterone, cortisone, and progesterone, are ketones as well, and retinal is an aldehyde that is essential for human vision.

Embalming fluid is a compound of formaldehyde, methanol, ethanol and other solvents. The percentage of formaldehyde found in embalming fluid ranges anywhere from 5 to 29 percent. The percentage of ethyl alcohol, the psychoactive ingredient found in alcoholic beverage, varies anywhere from 9 to 56 percent. According to the Office of National Drug Control Policy, it is common for marijuana to be laced with PCP and/or embalming fluid, both of which produce a hallucinogenic effect. Cigarettes soaked with embalming fluid trend to burn slower, thereby increasing the chance for a prolonged high.

Embalming fluid is usually found in morgues and funeral homes, however, the fluid also can be purchased directly from chemical companies in person or from the Internet. Persons coming in contact with embalming fluid should exercise extreme caution, since exposure can cause serious health issues. Containers should not be opened and its contents should not be inhaled or applied to the skin.

Effects from exposure to embalming fluid include: bronchitis, body tissue destruction, brain damage, lung damage, impaired coordination, and inflammation and sores in the throat, nose, and esophagus. IT IS EXTREMELY CARCINOGENIC.

Short-term effects: Anger and frustration, depression, hallucinations and delusions, headache, impaired vision and coordination, increase in womens sexual appetites, loss of consciousness, memory loss, paranoia, physical violence, sleepiness, and vomiting.

Long-term effects: Brain damage, bronchitis, coma, convulsions. Coughing, destruction of muscle tissue, fever, heart attack, high blood pressure, inflammation of the throat, nose and esophagus, kidney damage, lung damage, maturation process cessation, pneumonia, and spinal cord destruction.

Street terms: Amp, Clickem, Crazy Eddie, Drank, Fry, Fry Sweet, Ill, Illy, Milk, Purple Rain, Wack, Water-Water, Wet, Wet-Wet, Wetdaddy.

ZAMBEEF are the worst culprit in Food safety and hygiene, if you visited their Chisamba meat processing factory, probably you will never eat meat again. Govt have put a ban on meat importation in place to protect the local producers but ZAMBEEF got away with it by importing ‘throw away’ offals and holves which are used for animal feed in Europe. Infact, ZAMBEEF exports free-range prime beef to Europe and import those useless meat. ZAMBEEF is protected by people with very close links in Government, and they have been going on for years with these fallen standards. Shame, that they authorities discovered this SO LATE. This case wont go anywhere unless consumers boycotts ZAMBEEF products.
