The composition of the Zambian government is representative. Some people could there because they are friends or relatives of the appointing authority. Others could be there as a reward for their political loyalty and cadresim.
And yet some are there because they are plain intelligent, patriotic and hardworking Zambians. The fact is that the whole nation can not be in government. And that is why we have a representative system of democracy. Ideas can be mooted effortlessly if, especially our politicians can learn to consult the masses. We saw them during the campaigns but now it’s ‘John Cena’. We don’t even when they are in town. ‘Time and chance happens to us all’, the Bible states.
Do they always only come for private business? Somebody tell me! Development programmes and simple things like naming of the Lusaka Stadium can come from the people. A naming competition can be done for such purposes. We need our elected leaders, for they are where they are because of us, and our tax. It is infact very disrespectul for our politicians to think they have the monopoly of knowledge. What we need is a paradigm shift in how the politicians regard us and conduct OUR business. It pains me!

“We are in Government to eat”, said Munkombwe. The fat arses of these Politicians are in stark contrast to the thin ones of their hungry people. All they want is a one party State as under UNIP, so they do nothing and debate Malabish. Useless!
