Anna Marie
Chapter Seven
NICOLE and NAOMI
“Who knew prostitutes were not only found on street corners but in the work place too,” Naomi commented bitterly, watching her supervisor Namakau leave hand in hand with her fiancé Greg, an impossibly gorgeous American guy who looked a lot like the actor who played Schofield in Prison Break.
That bitch had dated every single eligible white man in Lusaka including their father, if the rumors were to be believed. Everywhere she went, white men followed like flies on warm crap!
Like her pussy was made of gold, Naomi thought sourly.
“You’ll get your muzungu sooner or later sweetie, I promise you,” Nicole flashed a smile at her best friend, mentally thanking God for giving her the sweetest man on earth, Brian.
“Yeah right! I have been working here at MTN for the last six years and I have seen most, if not all the chicks in sales and Customer Care marry rich white guys while I’m passed over year after year!” Naomi snorted angrily looking at her colored friend furiously.
You would think she would be swimming in marriage offers from white men because she is friends with Nicole who had a rich white father, gorgeous colored brothers who only dated fellow colored or white chicks and a million rich white cousins but NO! None of Nicole’s male cousins were interested in her.
What was wrong with her? Why did she only attract black guys? She HATED black men! From the time she was ten years old watching white families buy everything in sight in Melissa Supermarket without caring about what it cost, she had made up her mind she would marry one of them come hail or high water!
Now here she was, thirty-eight years old, single and as unwanted as Chanda Chimba the third! Even the black guys in Lusaka had stopped approaching her, she thought uncomfortably.
“Can I drop you home?” Nicole asked, checking how dark the outside looked when it was only 21 hours.
“No thanks babe, my car came out of the garage this afternoon and Sandra dropped it off when you had that meeting with H.R,” Naomi responded, placing her Galaxy cell phone in her handbag and jangling her car keys.
“Your sister is a sweetheart for bringing it to you, given her tight schedule at UNZA. Anyway, I’ve gatta go and meet my man at the Chinese restaurant so I’ll see you tomorrow.” Nicole blew her a kiss and headed for the double glass exit doors.
Naomi waved, reaching back into her handbag to retrieve her ringing cell phone.
“Naomi thank God! You need to come and get Sandra coz she is too drunk to drive!” She heard Mable, her sister’s best friend’s voice shout down the line amid loud music in the background.
“Drunk? This early in the night?” Naomi demanded, feeling her temper flare.
“What?” Mable shouted.
Swearing under her breath, Naomi spoke louder, “where are you guys?”
“We are at Alpha! You’ll find us outside in front of –“ the line cut abruptly.
Fuming, Naomi redialed the line and received an out of coverage response.
Swearing some more, she grabbed her handbag and headed for the exit doors.
The car park was awash with brightly lit fluorescent tubes exposing the new girl in Customer Care, Wendy, laughing at something the Finance Director, Daniel Thornton was whispering in her ear. Naomi could feel the mix of anger and jealousy claw at her heart viciously. Only two months ago when Daniel was transferred from MTN Gauteng to Zambia, she had tried every trick in the book to lure him to her to no avail! And now, here was this nineteen year old child reaping where she had most definitely not sown. The world was too incredibly unfair!
Throwing the two of them a disgusted look, she jumped into her lime green Toyota IST and raced to Northmead.

Yes many Zambian gay people have girlfriends. This is perfectly normal and allows them to hide their true sexuality.

I think I have understood what is going, this is like a series or something. Prison Break type drama right?. On that basis I have decided to follow the episodes or chapters. Whats with Naomi restricting her catch to white and rich only? Any way I hope she dosn’t end up a sexualy starved miserable loner she sounds like she is.
