Time Running Out On ‘Rebel’ Black Stars Players Ahead of Zambia Clash
Andre and Jordan Ayew, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Michael Essien are racing against time to be eligible for selection in Ghana’s deciding 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia on September 6.
The Olympique Marseille duo alongside the AC Milan star have still refused to write to the Ghana FA to officially rescind their decision to take temporal leave from international duties.
The sons of Ghana legend Abedi Pele held a meeting with President John Mahama two months ago where they assured of their return to the Black Stars.
They were however directed to send an official notification in writing as they did when taking the sabbatical to make themselves available again for national team selection.
Andre and Jordan Ayew slapped in letters of a ‘temporal resignation’ from the Black Stars after they were left out of Ghana’s squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations for a variety of reasons.
While Andre raised issues of sour relations with members of the Black Stars management committee, his younger brother Jordan wants assurances of a regular national team call up.
These issues are however believed to have been thrashed out by President Mahama – leading to the players’ verbal announcement of their return.
They are however yet to make this decision official in writing.
Kevin-Prince Boateng’s isse is also a similar case as he tended in his resignation over two years ago haven impressed with the side the the 2010 World Cup.
He has however according to Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi expressed interest in a staging an international return.
Michael Essien’s case is a curious one as the player has not announced his resignation from the Black Stars but seem not keen on a return after taking an extensive international break to focus on resurrecting his club career.
The quartet now stand the chance of missing the crucial game against Zambia as coach Akwasi Appiah is uncertain of their status.
The Black Stars coach has already been monitoring players especially with the ones who have started pre-season training with the clubs for callups.
The former Ghana captain is however unsure whether to keep tabs on the ‘rebels’ as their eligibility remains in great doubt.
The Ghana coach will therefore be looking at other options is the quartet don’t send in their letters by the end of the week, Metro941.com intelligence reveals.
Appiah will be calling a higher number of players this time due to the impending international friendly with Japan a few days after playing Zambia.
Ghana only needs to avoid defeat against the Chipolopolo to progress to the final round of qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Zambia should just get ready for Ghana regardless of Ghanaian coach Appiah calls to his squad. We assume we are playing those so called Abedi Anyo, yaba, ati nani uyu mwana Abedi Pele. Ayew, eya. Lets just assume these chaps will be there.
