Witness Ekpene Weeps & Extols Rupiah Banda In Court, as He Testifies

RB

RB

A witness in a case in which Former President, Rupiah Banda is charged with abuse of authority wept during testimony describing him, as a man of great honour.

Akpan Ekpene, who spoke between sobs, says he holds Mr. Banda in high esteem because Mr. Banda believed in him.
Mr. Ekpene wished that Mr. Banda had won the 2011 general elections to avert what the duo is now encountering.

Meanwhile, Attempts to block Daily Nation Newspaper from covering court proceedings proved fruitless.

Chief resident magistrate Joshua Banda cautioned Daily Nation Newspaper to be professional in their reporting following an application by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mutembo Nchito

@Real Bustard. I am not even close to what you allege. I am as far as the East is from the South-West in Ethicity to former president RB Banda. And I will forever be different from your bitter and toxic life. Or may I say as far as the North is from the South-West. I am rich because I work hard. Do the same and you will not be full of malice.

    Cetewayo “Zulu King” (d. 1884)

Cetewayo, King of the Zulu’s, was a hero in a war with the British, causing the most crushing defeat the English ever experienced from any Africans in modern history. His victory at Isandlhwana was one of the most terrifying slaughters in history. In 1879, the British invaded Zululand. Cetewayo defeated the British, and killed Prince Napoleon, heir to the French throne.

A missionary, trying to frighten Cetewayo into accepting Christianity, told him of hell fire. “Hell fire?” Cetewayo laughed. Do you think I’m afraid of hell fire? My soldiers would put it out. He commanded his officers to have his warriors to eat a grass fire burning on a nearby hillside. His men immediately began to eat up the fire, not regarding their personal injuries. Cetewayo replied “I eat hell fire.” He was a strict military disciplinarian. The army knew they must conquer or die. Certain death always awaited a defeated army.

Cetewayo banished the missionaries from the Zulu territory for plotting against him and meddling in his national affairs. It was then suggested to the governor of the Cape that the Zulu nation should be annihilated in order to secure South Africa.

Having conquered many more British, Cetewayo was soon captured and imprisoned. Three years later, Cetewayo was granted a request to present his case to Queen Victoria. The British found him to be a courteous, friendly, gentleman, not the man-eating savage depicted. He was honored as a hero and promised restoration of his power.

The whites of South Africa never kept the promise of the Queen. When Cetewayo returned home, he again went to war with the enemy. Cetewayo died in February, 1844. Never having surrendered his principles for freedom for his people, the Zulus.

RB spent only 3 years in office and everything went wrong because he was surrounded by people who only think about the political carriers and the contracts they have from the government. He was wrongly advised and today he faces the charges he is facing alone because of his advisers. In his tenure though the campaign promise was continuity which insinuated that he was going to build on the promises of the big man late LPM, RIP. He tried to sustain the economy with the labour he had and he made the mistakes he made as a human being not wanting to double check the advise he was being offered. What do we learn from this? Choose your friends and choose them right. Work with professional people like LPM.

Now we have MCS as the president today. He made a campaign promise of delivering within 90 days and he has not yet delivered on that campaign promise. He shuns the media not because he is a discreet person but it is because he has nothing to tell the nation that will make them forget that they are not employed, they are loosing their jobs at a faster rate, the Kwacha is depreciating everyday (which makes trade close to impossible), people are being fired for nothing, he keeps on changing cabinet and also he has surrounded himself with wrong advisors who pose like they are thinking about the people when they are thinking about their tummies. His ministers can not even explain properly to the people how the removal of subsidies will work to their advantage. Why focus on infrastructure development if the voters do not have food to eat. All in all, 2016 will not be a walk in the park someone has to convince the voters why they should get a second term in office.
Let us stop these bitter politics and strive to build a better Zambia for all regardless of our political affiliation. Let us emulate South Africa, USA, Botswana and the like who do not delight in taking their former heads of state to prison. Let us use these people as ambassadors for the common good of mother Zambia. Leave RB alone, we are wasting more money prosecuting these guys just like we waste a lot of money in bye-elections.
