Kitwe Central Hospital Admits 3 Chella Murder Suspects

FACKSON Shamenda says President Michael Sata and his government is disheartened over the brutal killing of former Wusakile member of parliament Barnabas Chella who was axed to death during a fracas over land in Kitwe.
And three men that were apprehended by police to help with investigations into the death of Chella have been admitted to Kitwe Central Hospital nursing injuries they sustained during the fracas over the Mfubu Ranch land last Thursday.
Meanwhile, Wusakile PF member of parliament Richard Musukwa says police should swiftly arrest those that killed Chella.
In an interview yesterday, Shamenda, who is acting government spokesperson, said President Sata and the entire government was extremely shocked to learn about the death of Chella who was killed in a barbaric manner over the Mfubu Ranch land in Kitwe.
Shamenda said the government was confident that the police was doing a professional job by conducting thorough investigations to bring the culprits to book.
He however said the general public and all stakeholders involved must take note of the fact that the land wrangles over the disputed Mfubu Ranch started in the previous MMD administration that had serious irregularities where administration of land was concerned.
Shamenda said it was unfortunate and regrettable that the wrangles escalated and Chella was killed at a time all stakeholders and concerned parties had been engaged to amicably resolve the matter.
He said the government did not believe in violence or any criminal acts, adding that the perpetrators would be caged.
“Our deep and heartfelt condolences goes out to the Chella family. We are saddened by his death and the manner he was killed. You see this is what happens where there is indiscipline and lawlessness. These fundamentals deteriorated in the previous regime to an extent where people would do everything they wanted. We are working hard as the PF government and we have made efforts, we are putting in place measures to end land disputes and to ensure that there is proper and effective management of land countrywide,” Shamenda said.
And Musukwa, who is also mines deputy minister, said the people of Mfubu Ranch in Limaposa ward must not resort to violence as the Kitwe City Council was making serious efforts to address the matter.
“It is with deep sorrow and grief that I learnt about the death of our former MP. He died in very terrible circumstances and the law must take its course on all the perpetrators of such barbaric acts,” Musukwa said.
Meanwhile, acting Copperbelt police commissioner Joyce Kasosa yesterday disclosed that the three men that were apprehended to help with investigations into Chellah’s death had been admitted to Kitwe Central Hospital.
The three were under police guard in hospital.
“The thing is the two groups clashed and there were serious injuries. We suspect it’s the same fracas that resulted in the death of the late Mr Chella who was axed in the process. I must say that we are conducting serious investigations, we can’t reveal much but we will let you know our findings and if we make more arrests,” Kasosa said.
And police sources yesterday afternoon said Chella had gone to Mfubu Ranch with a firearm and they had so far retrieved two guns from the family to help with investigations and establish more facts on how he was killed.
Police commissioner Kasosa has since appealed for calm and restraint from all concerned parties as police were doing everything possible to bring the culprits to book.

Ba Minsiter which world and country do you live in? Your cadres are the ones grabbing land, stop blaming the MMD. Where the Airport area squatters shot in MMD regime or yours? Aren’t the Silverest land thieving scandals not being perpetrated by your senior provincial members? Be on the ground, realistic and truthful. Enuff of blaming past regimes.
