Renard Ducks Certainty Of His Chipolopolo Future ‘He Wants New Contract’

Chipolopolo coach Herve Renard says he won’t start the 2015 Africa Cup qualifiers next March if his contract is not extended.
And Renard says it is painful that Zambia will not be part of the World Cup to be staged in soccer-mad Brazil next year.
Meanwhile, Renard says he is proud of what he has achieved as Chipolopolo coach in the last two years.
Renard’s contract as Chipolopolo trainer ends in June next year and his continued stay has been the subject of speculation after a disastrous 2013 Africa Cup campaign early this year where defending champions Zambia were knocked out in the first round.
The qualifiers for the next Africa Cup to be held in Morocco are set to begin next March and Renard says he is not willing to continue as coach if the issue of his contract extension is not addressed beforehand.
In an interview after his team’s loss to Ghana in Kumasi on Friday, Renard said he would decide on his future after he returns from a holiday that he would take in a few days time.
“Yes this expectation from the people…your job is to talk. At the moment we finish our qualifiers, the issue is simple; I remain with the few months of my contract and the next qualifiers for Africa Cup will start in March 2014. So it’s not necessary to start the qualifiers if I am not extending my contract. But we have to sit, we have to talk about a lot of things because it’s important, because I want to improve and in our part we have to improve about a lot of things especially about organisation,” Renard said.
“No, I won’t start the qualifiers if I don’t extend my contract, it’s not necessary. It’s better to have a contract during the period of the qualifiers. If it’s not the case, it’s better to start with someone else and to let him to work during all the qualifiers for Africa Cup. I think it will be a very intelligent decision for the FAZ and for me,” he said.
Renard said he was proud of what he had achieved as Chipolopolo coach in the last two years.
“We can’t play two games and after we stop and leave at the end of the contract, but this is not the most important today. March is far away, so we have to look at what we did during the last two years. I think we did very well in my opinion,” said the Frenchman who guided Zambia to its maiden AfCON trophy last year.
And in an interview after the game, Renard said he missed his injured striking duo, Jacob Mulenga and Collins Mbesuma who did not make it for Kumasi.
He rued his strikers’ missed chances as the reason the team had failed in the qualifiers.
“Like we expected of course we are playing Ghana, against the Black Stars, they have already played two World Cups,” Renard said.
“They have already qualified for the last four semi-finals of the last Africa Cups, so it’s a big team with big players. But today I feel we showed something in the second half. Unfortunately our first half was not like we were expecting to press them, so we dropped too much, we left too much space between the line in the first half. Second half it was better but football you have to be efficient, you can see they shoot three times on target and they score so this is where we have been failing during these qualifiers. We were not efficient to kill the game in a right moment,” he said.
Renard said he had wanted Zambia to go to Brazil.
“So one more time Zambia will miss the chance to go to the World Cup. It’s a shame but I am sure in the near future FIFA will accept more teams from Africa very soon, so that it will create more chances for more African teams to reach the World Cup.
“Unfortunately this one in Brazil is maybe the most beautiful one, because Brazil is a country of football, so I am sure this World Cup should be amazing. But in life we don’t have to regret anything. We did our maximum, I think. It’s football,” he said.
Renard said he felt that Algerian referee Haimouchi Djamel should have awarded defender Emmanuel Mbola a penalty.
“…on Emmanuel Mbola there was a penalty but it’s easy to talk about a lot of things about football after… the reality is when you are looking at the result, at the end of the game we were down 2-1,” he said.
“Collins and Jacob, yes we missed them but we can’t continue talking something we did not have. But this is a fantastic spirit there is in this team, so I just would like to congratulate the players, to thank everybody for what they did during this qualifiers. Even when there is a failure at the end, you can do some very positive things at the end. So the players were fantastic, like all the time,” said Renard.

FAZ should extend his contract. it will be disastrous to start with a new coach all over again. FAZ should not think otherwise.

Let us not live on past glory and achievements. We must look at performance now. Look at Man City in the English Premier league. They had managed to win the English premier league the other season and some other silverware with Manchini within a short period. Man City got second position in the league the following year and also did not go far in UEFA and Manchini was sacked.
Complacency has hit the Zambian team. Heads need to roll. There has been no serious training and so many draws or losses. Renard should be relieved of his duties

Kalusha must also go. Apparently he is the one who chooses who should and should not play for the Zambian team. He has outlived his usefulness

To win the afcon and COSAFA within two years is not a jock… Renard is a good coach. Let him stay up until 2018. Where we have a problem is in the organization of our FAZ. His performance for the afcon 2013 was not impressive yes but we ought to sit down and do a serious post mortem and see where the problem was. It will not be easy to get a good replacement. Mind you tjat there are big teams around africa that will snatch quickly if we let go of him. Renard should stay and FAZ should be overhauled.

boneti did not make any team in Zambia. the team was made by kalusha and handed over to renard who improved it to level of reaching quarter final in angola 2010. boneti used same team when renard left. renard continued with same team when he returned and included a few players. learn to follow football kayula

History will not take us anywhere. Yes Renar brot. Us afcon trofy but then that’s where his usefulness ended. The best he can do is to resign on moral grounds. The man has run out of ideas.

The AFCON victory was destiny anyone would have won it for us. Cosafa is regional & we won because we had an advantage as hosts.football is a result oriented Business & Renards time is up. We had the easiest of fixtures during the world cup qualifiers but we messed up despite being given points.let’s accept failures & embrace change. He played his part let others pick from where he will end.

Imwe bantu the Coach is just ok. You have to remember that firing someone because of not qualifying to the world cup is not the absolute solution. As a matter of fact the coach probably needs a ka refresher course to reorganise his tactical approach. Infact let him go to Brazil and learn from the other coaches. Umuguys alifye bwino. Footbal z a business. In a business,u wil nt b comfortabo making loses today bcos last year you made a huge profit. Yes, Renard helpd us win the afcon bt after that,we hav jst bn losing with less wins. I must hurriedly say im disappointd wt the reasoning of most of u soccer fans in Zambia, its so ancient. Look at wat u were saying bfo the ghana match? We will beat ghana bcoz we hav beaten them bfo. U relish on past glory. Renards abilities hv gone down let him go togetha wt the Kalusha led FAZ. Let us staqt afresh, let the bygones be bygones.

This WC qualifiers HR scored points 0 in Khartoum, 1 in Maseru, and 0 in Kumasi. Total 1 out of 9. In Ndola he scored 3 Ghana, 3 Lesotho, 1 Sudan. The 0 point from Khartoum was boardroomed in favour of Zambia on account of Sudan’s negligence. Ghana on other hand lost points only in Ndola. Extend this review to Jan 13 and remove emotions and you will see why HR must get another job, not with Chipolopolo.
