In a letter to president Sata, dated 22nd September, 2013, obtained by QFM, Dr Mumba says it is not a criminal offence to challenge a sitting president.
Dr Mumba says he takes full responsibility for the entire statement he made on Joy FM, stating that his role as opposition leader is to highlight any retrogressive policies of the government in power.
He says it is the responsibility of every opposition leader, and all other leadership in the country to point the government’s shortcomings, so that if government is responsive, they can improve their service to the Zambian people.
Dr Mumba adds that as leader of MMD, it is his responsibility to highlight the shortcomings of the current government, in the hope that the PF changes and does better.
He further states that the MMD will support every progressive effort government makes, and register displeasure for any retrogressive steps taken.
The MMD leader says it is his prayer that President Sata will aspire to allow all Zambians to bring their views and ideas to the table of national consensus, without fear or favour.

If the sitting president makes mistakes, it does not warrant people to insult him. Nevers reflect on your history and see how many mistakes you have made. You will discover that you have made uncountable mistakes maybe even more than what President Sata has made. When you are veiled with an opportunity to speak to the nation, learn to censor your language, it does not pay to pretend to be wise when you are not. There are more people who are wiser than you. Besides I have never heard of you praising the government on anything good which they are doing. For you everything the government is doing is wrong.
Are you every sure that it is the president instructing the police to arrest you or you are just drawing him inside the mess you have created for yourself

Sata was elected not to be arresting the same people he is supposed to rule, this is human right violation, it’s okay to differ but not unnecessary arrests,a leader is a servant of the people and not a drug kin ping who is out there to get rid of his foes, the police too are losing their credibility and fairness

Dr. Mumba you have lost it to be honest. We thought you will come with a different approach in politics full of the word of God,integrity and no insults but its happening otherwise. Why do you politicians believe to win politics you have to talk about another person. Mr. SATA please please arrest Mr. Mumba and he should not think we will support him.

African leaders, with the exception of South Africans, hate to be criticised. Once you point out their mistakes they set the police on you. The current Zambian ruler with his history of being a colonial policeman is one of the worst dictators in Southern Africa.

@Toka. Maybe you missed some news last week. Sata personally phoned Nevers while in the Studio and threattened to send people to insult him. Secondly, if Nevers had insulted Sata, the Police could have arrested him after the interogation, but they found no insult in him.
