Kabimba’s statement comes in the wake of outspoken National PF youth chairperson Chishimba Kambwili’s statement yesterday in Lusaka that ‘Mr Kabimba should own up on his presidential ambitions instead of being arrogant and maligning his own party over alleged tribalism’.
At a media briefing in his office, Mr Kambwili said Mr Kabimba was being hounded out of office because party cadres were incensed by his presidential ambitions.
He said it was unfortunate for Mr Kabimba to label his own party as tribal instead of ensuring that there was discipline within party structures to make it stronger.
Mr Kambwili who is Youth and Sport Minister, said Mr Kabimba, as chief executive officer of the party should humble himself rather than continue being arrogant.
“When similar demonstrations were held against Given Lubinda, he kept quiet, why can’t he as well keep quiet now that it is on him? As leaders we should stop being arrogant. As SG, he must work hard to shield the party from indiscipline and the tag of tribalism,” Mr Kambwili said.
He said the PF was ‘dead’ unless the secretariat was re-organised and focused on its mandate to work for the people.
Mr Kambwili said Mr Kabimba, who is Justice Minister, had prior to the suspension of Mr Lubinda, stood his ground by stating that party cadres who were protesting at the time, were merely exercising their right to demonstrate.
On remarks by Mr Kabimba that since the country’s political inception, PF cadres were the worst in terms of discipline, Mr Kambwili described the statement as unfortunate to have been issued by a senior party official.
He urged Mr Kabimba to instill discipline in the party and apologise for the manner the party cadres had treated Mr Lubinda. He said the PF should not become a battlefield for members with personal agendas ahead of the 2016 general elections.
