The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) will earn US $1 million in match appearance fees for the Brazil international friendly in China on Tuesday, its understood.
And Democratic Republic of Congo topside TP Mazembe has responded to world governing body FIFA submitting an explanation on the non-availability of Chipolopolo trio Rainford Kalaba, Nathan Sinkala and Stophilla Sunzu.
Sources at Football House have told bolazambia that Brazil, as organisers of the Zambia friendly, had offered the 2012 African Nations Cup champions US $1 million for the international friendly.
Zambia agreed to the fee and signed the contract to field a full strength squad with all of its top performing players featuring in the Tuesday match.
FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya has personally travelled to Beijing as delegation leader and will be deputised by committee member Happie Munkondya.
The sources have said very few people within FAZ are aware of the amount involved in match appearance fees of the Brazil match to avoid causing apprehension among executive committee members and among national team players.
“The players will be paid between US $200 and US $600 because it is a one off match. There is no winning bonus per se but a match appearance fee for each player. If the amount is made public, it may cause problems for us as an association,” the source said.
Meanwhile, TP Mazembe has issued a statement on the club website explaining that the world governing body, FIFA, has not threatened the Lubumbashi side of any sanctions for withholding Kalaba, Sinkala and Sunzu. The trio is reported to be in the treatment room in the Katanga Province of Congo.
Mazembe state that it has never been unwilling to cooperate with FAZ on player services but was startled at the indignation with which Zambia was responding to the issue.
Mazembe said defender Hichani Himoonde, who is fit and in good health, was released for the game while Kalaba, Sinkala and Sunzu were under close observation.
The club has extended an invitation to FAZ for a Zambian team doctor to travel to Lubumbashi to ascertain the fitness of the players currently in the treatment room.
Mazembe said they had decided to keep the players in Lubumbashi because the last time a similar incident occurred, they obliged but only aggravated Rainford Kalaba’s injury.
The club explains that Kalaba was released for the World Cup qualifiers in June when he was injured and was forced to train worsening his injury which ruled the player out of action for nearly three months.
Mazembe have stated that it spent massively on Kalaba’s treatment and was happy their key player returned to form on August 3 after missing out on a series of crucial matches for the club.
Apart from Kalaba, Alain Nkulukuta and Solomon Asante are also in the treatment room ahead of their CAF Confederations Cup semi-final return fixture against Stade Malien of Mali on October 19 whom they lead 2-1 from the away first leg.

Extended an invitation to a Zambian doctor? Ni ka brown envelop pa airport chabe and the man returns confirming the sickness. Even adds that they have Ebola virus. On a serious note Mazembe are afraid of scouts looking at the boys and a proposing a possible move away from TP
