Konkola Mine Police on Saturday afternoon shocked second placed Zesco United when they scored an injury time winner to win 2 – 1 in a game played at Konkola Stadium.
Zesco have now only won once in the last five games and have handed the advantage to Nkana in terms of the race for the title as Nkana will be 10 points clear if they win on Sunday.
On the other hand, Mine Police made it two victories in a roll having only lost once in the last 5 games and have now moved out of the relegation zone into 11th position, level on points with Kabwe Warriors and Power Dynamos who were drawing with Green Buffaloes by press time.
Zesco opened the scores through Winstone Kalengo who powered his way through the Mine defence to score before Chipululu Chileya headed in a brilliant Kabaso Chongo cross. Andrew Tampila then finished of a beautiful late move for the winner.
In the early kick-off, Nchanga Rangers beat Napsa Stars 2 – 1 with goals from Bornwell Mwape and Felix Nyaende.
Harry Milanzi converted a penalty for Napsa.
In Lusaka Zanaco beat Kabwe Warriors 2 – 1. Aubrey Funga scored the opener for Zanaco while Owen Mwendabai scored the only goal for Warriors.
