Kitwe Magistrate court has sentenced a 32 year old kitwe resident to 12 months imprisonment with hard labor for trafficking in cocaine.
Brian Chewe was found in possession of two pallets cocaine weighing 1.9 grams.
According to facts read before court, following a tip from members of the public of people dealing in the named drug , Drug Enforcement Commission – DEC officers on September 25,2013 conducted a search on the now convict at flat number 10 AFCOM Building and the drugs were found.
When questioned on the source of the drugs, Chewe disclosed that a person by the name of Felixton gave him to sell on his behalf.
The DEC officers later used Chewe to link up with the named suspect who was apprehended at Monalisa pub in parklands.
In mitigation Chewe pleaded with the court for lenience that he had repented of his action having suffered in police custody.
Passing the sentence Kitwe Magistrate Kapinda Chipamu warned Chewe to change his ways as he was lucky to have been sentenced to one year because he was a first offender.
Magistrate Chewe explained to the convict that if he was caught again, the matter will be referred high court which will slap him a stiffer penalty.
