From KAPALA CHISUNKA in Mansa and NKOLE NKOLE in Lusaka
IGNORE the calls by the opposition about in-fighting in the Patriotic Front (PF), President Sata, Wynter Kabimba and I are not going anywhere; we are the A-Team, Vice-president Guy Scott has said.
Dr Scott said at a rally held at Kundamfumu Primary School in Mansa yesterday that no-one was going to displace President Sata or the secretary general Mr Kabimba from the PF.
“Ignore opposition. There are no in-fights in the party anymore. President Sata, Wynter Kabimba and myself are not going anywhere….no-one is leaving the party. We are the A-Team; we are the ones who won the elections. No-one is going to chase us from our party,” Dr Scott said.
He said when they met in 1990, they agreed together with President Sata that they needed to govern the country and that was achieved democratically when they won the tripartite elections in 2011.
Dr Scott said whatever misunderstandings that had rocked the party have been resolved and things have settled.
The Vice-President, who was in Mansa to drum up support for PF candidate for the forth-coming Mansa Central by-elections Chitalu Chilufya, also urged the people of Kundamfumu to vote for the PF candidate.
“Dr Chilufya, in 2016 when you come here, people will ask you what you have brought for them because after one term as member of Parliament people want to see results.
Now they will vote for you based on your promises but the second time you come back seeking another term in office, they will vote based on what you have done for them,” he said.
Earlier, Chipili member of Parliament Davis Mwila urged the people of Mansa to vote for Dr Chilufya for continuity in development programmes which the PF government has initiated in the province.
“Do not listen to the opposition and their lies. PF is here to bring development and we have shown what we are capable of doing. Why would you want to retard progress by voting for the opposition which you rejected in 2011?” he asked.
And Dr Chilufya pledged to continue delivering on the PF promises by focusing on the construction of schools, hospitals, rehabilitation of roads, among other developmental projects, aimed at improving the lives of the people of Mansa.
Dr Chilufya is one of the candidates contesting in the November 22 by-elections. The seat fell vacant following the death of Kennedy Sakeni. Other candidates include Rosemary Mwiche (UPND), Charles Mwelwa (UNIP), Albert Mwape from Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) and MMD’s Malama Kapolyo.
Meanwhile, the launch of the Patriotic Front (PF) National Project for Poverty Reduction (NPPR) at Central Stores in Lusaka yesterday turned into a reconciliation following the unanticipated arrival of once self-proclaimed PF Lusaka district chairperson Robert Chikwelete.
Mr Chikwelete arrived before PF Secretary General and Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba, who was guest of honour at the launch, could address the gathered crowd.
Following his arrival, Mr Chikwelete waved at the crowd, which then waved back at him as his former rival, who is incumbent PF Lusaka district chairperson, Goodson Banda held him by the hand before the pair knelt before Mr Kabimba.
Mr Kabimba, who was careful not to sour the reconciliatory spirit of the morning, then proceeded to re-unite the former rivals.
He appealed to the PF members present to welcome back Mr Chikwelete, whom he described as a prodigal son and reformed rebel, with open arms and an open heart.
“We have one of our prodigal comrades, Chikwelete, who has come back into the fore and he has said he is sorry,” stated Mr Kabimba. “I want to appeal to our members to welcome Robert Chikwelete back in full with open hearts and open arms, and those got lost in the wilderness are still free to come.”
Mr Kabimba shared that if there is any virtue he has learnt from President Sata, it is that of love and forgiveness and as President Sata’s disciple, he has chosen to forgive Mr Chikwelete.
“When you hear me quoted in the papers as having forgiven Mr Chikwelete, I mean it from the bottom of my heart because if I’m going to be a disciple of Mr Sata, I must practise his virtues,” explained Mr Kabimba.
And Mr Chikwelete said in an interview after the launch that he had joined the PF as an individual and no-one could tell him what to do, adding that he would work with the party.
PF Lusaka district chairperson Goodson Banda said the reconciliation that took place was for the party and the nation as a whole.
“We are the ruling party and we need to give that example,” Mr Banda remarked. “When things are like this, it is not our making but God’s. The President of this party has already said go and reconcile and work together.”
The NPPR is a PF skills training and employment creation strategy aimed at empowering Zambian women and youth who comprise the majority of the population. The project is part of the PF’s estimated target to create a million jobs by the year 2016.

If it is true that the ant- Kabimba group was even carrying a coffin to signify the end of Kabimba just for the love of money, then how can we trust what the PF says about HH & other opposition leaders? Anyway
KK told us Ukwa is not presidential material but just good at organizing and mobilizing.
It is not an achievement to re-group wrong doers.
Reduce cabinet, introduce alternative energy sources eg solar, windmills, gas to avoid load shedding, avoid un necessary bye elections, create meaningful jobs `KCM to fire 1500 workers`. Where r PF advisers?
2016…lord ans our prayer.
