Phiri Salutes Katongo’s Cecafa Performance

Green Buffaloes coach Patrick Phiri has praised midfielder Felix Katongo’s display for Zambia at the 2013 Cecafa Cup.
The Buffaloes midfielder marked his return to the Zambia fold after an 11 month absence with an impressive performance in Chipolopolo’s 1-1 draw with Tanzania in a Group B opener on Thursday at Machakos.

Katongo created Zambia’s lone goal scored by Reynold Kampamba and had two efforts prior to that denied by Tanzania goalkeeper Ivo Mapunda.

“That was a fantastic performance considering that he was out of the team for months and he came back and he had the same passion, very good technique and he contributed to a very wonderful goal,” Phiri told MTNFootball.com.

Phiri said he was not surprised by Katongo’s performance especially after some outstanding displays at Buffaloes this season.
