ACC Terminates Contracts Of 14 Lawyers, Investigators

THE Anti Corruption Commission has terminated employment of 14 investigators and lawyers based on redundancy.
The workers were served with termination letters on December 10.
“We were given the letters on December 10 and they have given us three months notice up to March 10,” said an affected employee, who refused to be named.
The employee said the reason for the termination of their employment was that they refused to accept their new salaries, which were reduced following the harmonisation of salaries for government workers.
Non-practising allowance has also been scrapped while their housing allowance, which was at 100 per cent, has been reduced to 30 per cent.
Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) spokesperson Timothy Moono said he was not aware of the terminations but that some employees were asked to be separated from the institution.
Last month, the Ministry of Justice fired 18 state advocates for engaging in what it described as an “illegal industrial action”.
The lawyers were demanding K3,600 non-practicing allowance, which is said to have been scrapped.

First, Ministry of Justice lawyers fired, secondly Nurses and now ACC Officers. This is aimed at instilling fear in any civil servant who dare complain. 2014 will be difficult for civil servants. Infact, this is aimed at weakening ZCTU. May be we should keep quite and wait for 2016. How else can they impose a wage free and an employment free without dissent.

This does not sound real, how can your housing allowance be 100% of your pay?

i wonder what SATA and his Cabinet is thinking, imagine all civil servants ( i mean teachers, agricult, education etc)are given 20% housing allowance with a highly paid getting K5500 basic. Doctor, who get minimum K17000 get 40% housing allowance. these guys spend 7 years the friends 5 years at University but look at the difference.
