IG Warns UPND Over Planned Public Protest
INSPECTOR General of Police Stella Libongani has warned the United Party for National Development (UPND) to follow procedure before demonstrating on January 8, next year over Government’s alleged mismanagement of the economy.
Ms Libongani told journalists in Lusaka yesterday that there was need for people to follow proper channels before engaging in demonstrations.
“There is a procedure whenever people want to conduct demonstrations or public meetings or processions and that procedure is that they apply to a regulating officer and then a response will be made,” she said.
Ms Libongani could, however, not say whether the UPND had been granted permission to go ahead with the planned demonstration.
When contacted for comment, UPND Secretary General Winston Chibwe refused to comment on the matter, referring all queries to UPND deputy secretary general Kuchunga Simusamba.
Efforts to get a comment from the UPND Mr Simusamba failed by press time as his mobile phone was outside coverage area.
According to an article published in The Post newspaper yesterday, the UPND in a letter dated December 20, 2013 signed by Mr Simusamba, addressed to the Lusaka police commissioner, the opposition party wanted to petition President Michael Sata at House over the Government’s alleged mismanagement of the economy.

The economy is not good. One of the indicators is cost of living. 100 Kwacha was lot of money during the MMD government. The govt claims to have removed subsidies to divert much needed funds to development projects but they are still borrowing and no one seems to want to account for the money from subsidies. The government hasn’t shown any will in improving our agriculture sector, late delivery of inputs. I think over time if our agriculture improves our economy would be much better. but what is happening scandal after in that ministry. There is also the budget deficit, that has been increasing since pf came into power. Yes the govt is building roads, but what good are roads if farmers have no produce to ferry to the markets?

Not even Sata(n) can prove that HH stole money so why do PF cadres try this old propaganda?
Its an old unproven lie that only PF cadres seem to be barking yet fail to talk about Merzaf flats and k2billion of looted MMD convention money.

UNDP MUST JUST UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE FINISHED AND ALL THEY NEED IS TO DISOLVE THEIR PARTY AND JOIN OTHER PARTIES. BY THIS THEY WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF ZAMBIA.
