Kambwili Awarded ‘Man of the People’

SOUTHERN Africa Resource Watch (SARW) has conferred Minister of Youth and Sport Chishimba Kambwili with ‘Man of the People’ award in recognition of the socio-economic development projects being undertaken both as minister and member of Parliament (MP) for Roan Constituency.
SARW country director Edward Lange said in Luanshya yesterday that the organisation decided to bestow the honour on Mr Kambwili because of his vigorous fight to improve the livelihoods of the people.
Mr Lange said Mr Kambwili, both as MP and minister, has made several endeavours to improve the standards of living for the people.
“The minister has also played a bigger role in the extractive industry. He deserves nothing but an honour,” he said.
Luanshya district commissioner Harold Mbaulu said at the event that Mr Kambwili has represented people he represents effectively.
Mr Mbaulu said through the many initiatives that Mr Kambwili has undertaken, the Luanshya Municipal Council and his office have benefited and been able to gain recognition.
“I am sure you are aware that Luanshya Municipal Council has been recognised as the most corruption-free council,” he said.
Mr Mbaulu said Mr Kambwili is an action-oriented man who will always take time to listen and attend to the needs of the people.
In acknowledging the award, Mr Kambwili said he is humbled by the gesture and the award will make him work even harder.
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, the PF government attaches great importance to women and youth empowerment through education, skills development, entrepreneurship and agricultural support as evidenced by the ongoing projects in my constituency and beyond,” Mr Kambwili said.
He said he has realised that many people, especially women in Luanshya, are not privy to information that Government could fund some of their projects.
Mr Kambwili has called for a seminar by the Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC), his ministry and the Ministry of Community, Mother and Child Health to sensitise people on how to access government funds.
He also disclosed that at least 50km stretch of township roads in Luanshya are earmarked for upgrading to bituminous standard.

He really deserves it. The man has been instrumental in pushing of equal opportunities for all. No wonder in his constituency no any other person can win an election at whatever level whether presidential or parliamentary.
