Police Gun Down 3 Notorious Criminals

POLICE in North-Western Province have gunned down three notorious criminals and recovered an AK 47 riffle with 10 rounds of ammunition.
And five criminals, facing charges of burglary and incest yesterday escaped from police custody in Ndola.
The three suspected criminals were shot dead in Solwezi on Monday between 23:00 hours and midnight along the old Chingola Road as they attempted to escape from police officers who were interrogating them.
Provincial commissioner of police Eugene Sibote confirmed the development at a media briefing at his office in Solwezi yesterday and identified the three as James Msiska, 37, of Lusaka who was the master mind, Willy Phiri, 34, of Kafue and 43-year-old Kennedy Choolwe of Kitwe.
“As police in Solwezi, we have three dangerous criminals that we gunned down,” Mr Sibote said.
Mr Sibote explained that the three were trailed and arrested on Sunday night after a tip off from members of the public that there were six people at Solwezi Royal Hotel who were behaving and looking suspicious.
He said police officers rushed to the area but found the suspects had gone.
Mr Sibote said police officers managed to trail the suspects and found three of them at Popos Night Club where they were arrested.
He said after interrogating the three, the suspects told the officers that they were six and their mission was to stage robberies at financial institutions, Solwezi Royal Hotel and Solwezi Lodge.
Mr Sibote said the criminals also informed the police that they had come with a gun but it was hidden in the bush along the old Chingola Road.
The police then requested the three suspects to lead the officers where they had hidden the gun but they failed to disclose the exact location.
Mr Sibote said some officers were then withdrawn to get metal detective devices at the police station and the suspected criminals decided to take advantage of the few number of policemen who had remained with them to escape but police opened fire and all the three were shot dead in the process.
He said police, however, managed to recover the fire arm, some other devices that were in their possession and the unregistered Toyota Corolla the suspected criminals were driving.

True, this report by Sibote is untrue, Police acted unprofessionally more so with motive to steal and destroy evidence.

Can’t fool all the people save for few gullible minds.

The fun part is that those pipo did not shoot at the poplice or rather they didnt have guns in their hands when they attempted to escape. But i cant understand why the police were quick to shoot all of them. My understanding of the role of the police is to ensure that criminals are brought to book in the court of law. It is very likely that some of those killed are innocent souls because having a gun (licenced or nulicenced) does not make one a criminal more especially that these pipo were not found in a robbery act

Its very confusing how u the so called learned understand things. These are criminals we are talking about. If they run away from the police, u could have been condemning the police? Hey criminals only kills and destroy. One day u will be a victim and you will understand this.

Sobongo and the other one, zip your mouth by the time they will attack, rape your wife in your full view b4 they blow your head off that’s when you will release the importance of POLICE. Whether educated or not we need reduction in criminals. To all Police officers thumbs up from us who likes peace, some characters should not be kept in the society as they always want to reap where they did not sow…

commissioner of ploce sure, how can officers take dangerous criminals to the bush without handcaffing them? shooting all the three un armed criminals as their gun was not in their possession, commander you refrase your statement as no proper enquirer can get that story as justifiable action to kill suspects that you did not find armed and now you tell us stories, who can believe you commander? you have killed innocent people as the law does not allow you to apply maximum force to a an allerged criminal who is not armed the time.

This is an unconstitutional act. Although they were criminals they are presumed innocent until proven otherwise by the courts of law. They were unarmed, they did not fire at the police, so for the police to open fire on them is a total abuse of power by them and they should all be brought to book for their acts. The police department should not be thugs. They are in those positions to protect and serve and not to act like a cartel. Those so called criminals still had rights and they were abused by our police. They did not follow protocol and should be investigated for their actions, if at all people are to regain confidence in not just the police, but the rule of law and the constitution. The constitution is set up with checks and balances to protect people from the government and acts of this manner. Human rights lawyers should take this case upon themselves and see that justice is served.
