The opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) has declined to allow its candidate for the Katuba Parliamentary by-election Cecil Holmes to feature on a television recording that was scheduled to take place today the 7th of February at ZNBC.
This is after ZNBC extended an invitation to Mr.Holmes to feature on television recording programme.
MMD Acting National Secretary Kapembwa Simbao has disclosed to Qfm news in a statement that his party has turned down the invitation because Mr. Holmes has a heavy and crowned programme in Katuba Constituency which cannot be abandoned to fulfill the ZNBC programme.
Mr. Simbao says the other reason is that the prospect of editing the said programme against other opponents is allegedly very high a risk Mr. Holmes cannot take as ZNBC has been seen to allegedly wear a yoke of favoritism.
The MMD Acting National Secretary, who is also Senga hill opposition Member of Parliament, adds that the further reason why Mr. Holmes could not feature on the programme is that very few Katuba constituency residents and voters have televisions sets to watch the said programme.
He further notes that much as the party appreciates that such an invitation was extended by ZNBC, it is also of the view that public broadcaster has issues of constructive and professional journalism to address.
