MEN are worthless without women in society, says Mwansabombwe PF member of parliament Rodgers Mwewa.
And first lady Dr Christine Kaseba says women in rural areas should move in tandem with their counterparts in urban areas.
Speaking when he addressed scores of women in Mwansabombwe’s Mbereshi area during the commemoration of International Women’s Day, Mwewa said without a woman, there would be no homes standing.
He said before he got married, people called him useless because there was no woman in his life to help shape his destiny.
“Ilyo nshilaupa, bonse mwalelanda ati Mwewa ciwelewele (before I got married, you called me useless), which means that no man can be a real man without a woman. Every successful man needs to have a woman in his life. I therefore honour and glorify all women,” said Mwewa amid ululations by women.
He said women had the ability to transform mischievous and cantankerous men into responsible and better human beings.
Mwewa said women were not only important in in the eyes of men but also in the eyes of God.
“If God sees you (women) as important in His eyes, who are we to disregard God by demeaning you? The Jesus Christ we talk about would not have brought salvation to this world without a woman,” he said.
And Mwewa said President Michael Sata had given him an ambulance to present to the people of Mwansabombwe in order to improve health delivery in the area.
And Dr Kaseba during celebrations to mark this year’s International Women’s Day held at Mazabuka Zambia Police grounds, said society should not underestimate the economic and social worth of women just because they live in rural areas.
She said women in rural areas were oftentimes lagging behind.
“These are the women who supply our markets with nutritious foods which help fight disease and contribute to longevity. We need to celebrate the rural woman,” Dr Kaseba said.
“It is for this reason that I am here to join the women in Mazabuka to celebrate the works of our great women in this part of the country. I am also here to share with you the inspiration for a better future because once upon a time a girl called Christine Kaseba grew up just like any other girl grew up here in Mazabuka. By God’s favour and with the help of the people around me, I can thank God for this unique opportunity to be the woman, mother, wife, doctor that I am today and first lady at the same time,” she said.
Dr Kaseba pointed out the need to unlock the potential in girls and women so that poverty, illiteracy, teenage pregnancies and gender-based violence do not ruin their potential to be stars and heroines of tomorrow.
“I am sure there are great girls and women too that have risen from this special place we call Mazabuka. We cannot all be doctors, lawyers, etc, but each one of us possesses great potential to achieve even more in our lives,” she said.
Dr Kaseba noted that many men had ignored the equality principle and had instead focused on the biological aspect in order to exclude women from enjoying prosperity, thereby relegating them into subordinates.
She, however, noted that unlike in the past, women and girls had broken free from the yoke of bondage and had, among other things, started getting into what was previously thought to be “men’s spheres”.
Dr Kaseba called for change of attitude so that men and women, boys and girls could, together, prepare and prosper in the next 50 years as equal partners.
And Southern Province minister Daniel Munkombwe advised women to help liberate the area from the political yoke of belonging to the opposition.
Munkombwe said women should realise that they had the capacity to convince the menfolk to change their political inclination, which had always been to the opposition.

@Married man, to the contrary, it is now common knowledge that you men love money than women. Most of you have taken the role of a woman instead of being providers. Eeee, why should I marry ekapepala who wont meet my financial needs. Some of us are very expensive. As a woman, I can leave without a man for the rest of my life while a man cannot.

Mazabuka is a rural area? I wonder whether women in rural districts say 10 km from the district center knew that they were supposed to be celebrating International Womens Day! They may have as well been busy toiling in fields to produce the food the first lady is talking about! On the other hand see their counterparts in cities adorned in free new suits and marching after which they obviously had a feast! This world nawa-o!

Most women are just generally hopeless without us men. A woman can discover that her hubby has a girlfriend but still continue to stay with him and even make love to him. Talk of a man discovering his wife is fvcking someone else, hell breaks loose!!!

Everything was okay on earth before a woman, when she arrived everything went wrong, aging, death, anger, poverty, hunger, sweating to get food …. bla bla bla …. .
Who should be termed USELESS?
Its you Mr MP who is Useless, not all men.
The fact the your president rated you USELESS does not make all men useless, or was it a way of firing back at your talkative boss.
