HIV Positive Man Demands Unprotected Sex From Wife
Josephine Mwamba, 39, of Kabangwe sued Leonard Mkandawire, 57, of Chawama for divorce.
Mwamba told the court that she got married to Mkandawire in 2011.
Josephine lamented in Lusaka Boma Court how her husband insisted on having unprotected sex despite knowing his HIV status which is positive.She said Mkandawire concealed his HIV status and that she only found out the day the two went for Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT).
“I was found to be negative but stayed with him because I loved him. The doctor advised us on precautions to take when having sex which he ignored,” said Mwamba.
Mwamba told the court that every time she would refuse to have unprotected sex with Mkandawire, he would leave home annoyed with his clothes packed together with whatever he bought for her.
She told principal presiding magistrate Mable Mwamba and senior court magistrate Prudence Bwalya that Mkandawire once put charms in her food and drink to make her submissive.
“He confessed after I confronted him stating that he got the charms from his friends,” said Mwamba.
Mwamba told the court that she did not want to reconcile with Mkandawire .
But Mkandawire denied ever ignoring the doctor’s advice on having protected sex.
“I’m sick and I cannot have sex with her every day. My wife chased me from home because of my HIV status. She complains of not having enough sex,”he said.
He denied concealing his HIV status and pleaded with the court to reconcile the two as he still loved his wife.
The court granted the couple divorce .

Days before you Went for VCT you used to have unprotected sex but after knowing the status you say no. Put your self in his shoes. Why didn’t you go back and see the counsellor for more counseling. You have diclosed confidential.

it appears to me there is a group of bloggers that will always put blame on a woman. why??? It is a very well known fact that a lot of married men are on treatment while their wives are not. This is not news it happens.
To me, this is the same as murder and shouldn’t be trivialized.
