2 Suspected Lusaka Thieves Beaten To Death

IRATE Kamwala South residents in Lusaka have beaten two suspected thieves to death.
The bodies of the two men were found on railway tracks near the township around 07.30 hours yesterday. They had severe head and body wounds.
Police deputy public relations officer Rae Hamoonga said yesterday that the two, aged between 36 and 40, were trying to rob a house but were caught and beaten to death.

“The owner of the house shouted for help and the two were caught and beaten up by a mob until they died after which their bodies were dumped on the railway tracks,” Mr Hamoonga.
The bodies were taken to the University Teaching Hospital mortuary.
“We appeal to members of the public missing male relatives to check at the hospital,” Mr Hamoonga said.
He also appealed to members of the public to desist from taking the law into their hands when they catch thieves or other people who break the law.
“It is best to take the culprits to the nearest police station so that they can be dealt with lawfully,” Mr Hamoonga said.
