2 Nabbed for Possessing More Than K40, 000 Counterfeits

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Eastern Province has arrested and jointly charged two businessmen of Chipata District for being in possession of more than 40 thousand Kwacha counterfeit notes.
George Zimba, 42, a businessman of DK Compound in Chipata has been arrested and jointly charged with David Mutumayo, 41, also businessman of Magazine Compound in Chipata for being in possession of K49, 900 counterfeit notes.

Meanwhile, the Commission has arrested over 50 people countrywide during the just ended Easter period for trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Those arrested include Kalonga Mangiza, 42, a peasant farmer of Bwengwa area in Monze District who was arrested for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 13.4kg, Catherine Chishala, 29, a businesswoman of Freedom Compound in Chilanga arrested for trafficking in 9.8kg of cannabis and Trywell Kapuma Hiweele, 37, a peasant farmer of Bwengwa area in Monze for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 4.9kg.

Others arrested include Joyce Banda, 22, a businesswoman of Chimwemwe Township in Kitwe for trafficking in cocaine weighing 215.35g, Kelvin Mushingo, 25, of 5477 Kabushi Township in Ndola for trafficking in 6.12kg of cannabis and Rogers Chansa, 31, a Charcoal Burner of Zimba Compound in Mufulira for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 3.8kg.

And in Lusaka the Commission has arrested and jointly charged Justine Banda, Mathews Banda and Joseph Banda all aged 27 and who reside in Bauleni Compound for trafficking in 25 sachets of heroin and some loose cannabis.

All suspects will appear in court soon.

    Pipo should set up decent works to earn money and not wrong ways. Surely they must pay for their actions. I think jailing them is not bad.
