HH: Excessive External Borrowing by PF Govt an Indication Of Lack of Priorities

United Party for National Development (UPND) tribal Leader Hakainde Hichilema says the excessive external borrowing by the patriotic front government is an indication of lack of priorities and concentration on areas of expenditure.
Mr. Hichilema says the PF is borrowing in order to award contracts to party allies.

He says it is unacceptable for the country to continue borrowing at the current rate when the country is coming out of the debt burden which was diverting resource from development to debt servicing.

Mr. Hichilema says the patriotic front government wants to take the country back into the debt crisis.

He adds that it is risky for the country to have a debt of close to five billion dollars in two years when it took decades for the country to have a 7.3 billion dollar debt, written off.

On Wednesday secretary to the treasury Fredson Yamba said Zambia’s current external debt and domestic debt levels still remain below the international thresholds of 40 and 25 percent respectively.

Mr. Yamba disclosed the country’s external debt is slightly over $3 billion.

How many bembas has Sata appointed in government positions compared to other tribes if he is not a most tribalistic person? Mumembe please call Sata Tribalist not HH with educated manners and high calibre.Sata has appointed many bembas that other 73 tribes in Zambia.Of which bembas are even dull & sarcastic people,They have contributed a lot to our undeveloped country.

Bembas are a majority in Zambia and always have a say in one becoming a president of Zambia. If you do not have bemba support you can not be President of Zambia.

You should be mindful Mr. Banda not to generalise issues if you met a bemba who was sarcastic & dull that does not mean all bembas are dull. its such comments from people like you that cultivate hatred among tribes. Are you sure you have never met an intelligent bemba in your life to be frank? am sure you have met many just as you have met intelligent people from other tribes in Zambia. I ask you not to generalise issues otherwise you will hurt many and in that way it defeats the main purpose of this site.

As usual, ka Hakainde, sounding so intelligent but without options. He is so like the late Chama Chakomboka who could say that he knew where the Best of Zambia precious stones & minerals lay and he would only show us when voted into power!! Same nakakene ka HaHi.

Sata is more tribal than HH. He has promoted and thrived on cronyism and nepotism. One does not have to look far to find the evidence. We must kick the clown out in 2016. He was never useful for this country. He has left a trail of rot where ever he has been in the past.

Some commentaries and news media teyakukonkelesha especially on this tribal issue. Just look around you and the mixed variety of people/friends surrounding you, doesn’t it make you proud you belong to such a rich cultural mix? Sometimes I marvel with pride at the big integrated mix found where the common people mingle, that’s the Real Zambian family!

Yes FuManChu, we love & pride in our diversity. The problem may arise if one day Sata’s relatives woke up & announced that “ONLY A BISA CAN BE PRESIDENT of the PF” There and then, shall we label them a tribal party until they make physical and tangible redress.

Borrowing per se is not wrong as long as u also have a plan of utilisation and repayment. What hh is saying is excessive borrowing is dangerous. And most of these borrowed money is only used to develop the north. The solwezi to chingola road which is an important economic road, has been neglected deliberately. I wonder if kansanshi mine and lumwana where in muchinga, the road would have been neglected.
