My Husband Has Been Starving Me Sexually – Woman Tells Court
a woman of Kaunda Square stage1 age of 72 sent the Chelstone Local Court roaring into laughter when she pleaded with the court to dissolve her marriage of 40 years because her husband has been starving her sexually for four years.
Miriam Njobvu complained to the court that Vincent Mumba, 81, has ruined her future following her endurance of living a life without sex.
“My husband, Mumba has been promising to do something about his manhood but nothing has changed. I have sexual feelings as well but it seems he just wants to punish me,” Njobvu said whilst raising both hands surrendering that she has had had enough.
This was heard before Justices Hope Mwila, Mary Namangala and Bertha Zulu in a case in which Njobvu sued Mumba for divorce. The two got married in 1974 and have no children together.
Njobvu had six children from her previous marriage with only one surviving and 16 grandchildren whilst Mumba has six children also from his previous marriage.
Njobvu further alleged that Mumba’s erectile dysfunction started when he took another woman as a wife who was also known to be a witch in his village in Petauke.
“The entire village knows that the woman he married is a witch. She bewitched him so that he can not perform in bed,” she said.
Njobvu also said Mumba is a promiscous man who has married four other wives without her knowledge.
“The first time he secretly married another woman, he lied to me that he had gone to the village to cultivate, unfortunately, the same woman died. He later married the second and third wife on different occasions. But this time, he has married a witch,” she said.
Njobvu said she does not want any compensation from Mumba but that she only wants to be set free.
And in his statement, Mumba said problems in his marriage started when he returned from his village in Petauke.
Mumba who has been on separation for nine months with Njobvu said he was shocked when Njobvu told him that there marriage was over without any apparent reason.
“She just packed all her belongings and told me that there was no marriage between us,” he said.
Mumba also said he wanted to be legally separated from Njobvu.
The court granted them divorce but no compensation was given to either party.
