Village headman Ephraim Musankata, 86, of Mansa district says he is a happy man yet again after he remarried on Sunday.
And Musankata has appealed to well-wishers to sponsor his honeymoon in Lusaka.
Headman Musankata of Musankata village and Agnes Nkandu, 65, on Sunday tied the knot at a colourful wedding ceremony held at Bwelako-Mano Lodge.
In what would be dubbed as freedom fighters’ wedding, Musankata and Nkandu said ‘I do’ during a church service at Christian Missions in Many Lands (CMML) Kapesha congregation.
The couple started dating three months ago.
Scores of Mansa residents turned up to witness Musankata’s wedding, which was graced by Mansa mayor Moonga Silondwa.
Headman Musankata told The Post in interview that his world became incomplete after the death of his wife, Reba Bupe, in December 2012 with whom he had seven children.
He, however, said he started re-gaining happiness when he met Nkandu, a widow with four children.
“I am a happy man yet again,” Musankata said. “I have found my love. Nkandu and I love each other very much.”
He said both families had accepted the marriage.
“My children and those of my wife have welcomed our marriage. They are willing to come together as one family,” Musankata said.
And Musankata appealed to well-wishers to sponsor their honeymoon in Lusaka.
“I want to have a good time with my wife at any lodge in Lusaka; just for a day or two will be enough for us,” said Musankata.
