Nortec Student Commits Suicide After Harlot Walks Away with School Fee
A 26-YEAR-OLD student from NORTEC in Ndola has committed suicide after discovering that a sex worker he had picked the previous night had stolen his K4,000 school fees.
Copperbelt police commissioner Joyce Kasosa confirmed the incident in an interview yesterday and said Dennis Chileya, who was a second year mechanical drafting student at the Northern Technical College, was found with a bottle of doom pesticide by his side around 16:00 hours on Monday at the hostel grounds.
“It is reported that the circumstance which led to the student committing suicide is failure to account for school fees. Hence he decided to take his life. This money would have been found later or the parents would have understood if the student explained rather than taking his life as this is not the solution,” she said.
Kasosa has, however, appealed to students not to take their lives when such an incident happens since no money is worth someone’s life and that there was no amount of money that could replace precious life.
Students, who were found at the scene, said Chileya went to the hostels with a sex worker on Sunday night and when he woke up the next morning, he found his school fees – K4,000 – missing.
“Dennis went out on Sunday and when he came back he came back with a ‘nigger’ who is a prostitute and they were having fun in the room. When he woke up the next morning, he found the Poko (sex worker) gone and his school fees gone. He even sent a message to one of his friends that he was going to kill himself because his school fees was stolen,” said one of the students.
