Zambians In a State of Social Fatigue – Mumba

MMD leader Nevers Mumba says changing governance from MMD to the PF has not brought fortunes to the Zambian people.
And Mumba says Zambians should not experiment with leadership but that they should go back to the MMD in 2016.
Speaking on Breeze FM’s Political Hour programme on Wednesday night, Mumba, who was on a tour of MMD Eastern Province structures, said there was a general social fatigue in the Zambian people.
He said Zambians expected their lives to change after changing from MMD to the PF but that their hopes had not been realised.
“I have spent time talking to various groups; minibus drivers, taxi drivers, the marketeers, students, I interacted with various people to feel their pain and to be able to interpolate their concerns. We did this in preparation that once the new MMD is back in government, it will be totally aware of the plight of the Zambian people,” Mumba said.
He said Zambians were very resilient and that they trust that even if it looked bad, the government would do better.
He said it was for that reason that Zambians remained under UNIP rule for 27 years.
“We stayed for 27 years under UNIP in the hope that things were going to be better. We are not out there in the street going to do things that are going to jeopardise our hard-earned peace. And so I look at Zambians today, on their faces and hear their stories, and how painful they are. Not too long ago under MMD, the Zambian people were paying only K37 for a 25kg bag of mealie-meal; today even in the villages where I come from, in Chinsali, our very old aunties and grandmothers are buying the same bag of mealie-meal at K100,” Mumba said.
He said the high price of mealie-meal was something that was inconceivable, especially that there were no jobs and no money in circulation.
“So you see a general fatigue in Zambian people and this is in every sector; it’s not just in the economy. The declining value of the kwacha which for the first time has hit what they call the psychological barrier of K7, it is now at K7.30 per dollar and this is going to impact negatively on the quality of life of Zambians because everything is going to go up,” Mumba said.
And Mumba said Zambians should go back to MMD, which he said had worked very hard to ensure that democracy was protected.
He said going by the way things were moving, there was need to retrieve the economy which he said was going down.
“My advice to the Zambian people is that, let there be no more experiments in our choice of a political party, in our choice of our president because we chose the Patriotic Front as an experiment.
‘Iyayi, we are now tired of the MMD, talema, manje tifunako party ya Patriotic Front, a new party’. So we did an experiment, we went to PF; look where we are now! Look at the tears of the Zambian people! Look at the pain of the Zambian people! No more experiments, let’s go back to the MMD, the party that you know, a party that you have worked with,” said Mumba.
He also said the police that disrupted his meeting in Vubwi were being used by the powers that be.

Dr Mumba,I know pipo may have their own views about you,but am convinced that Zambia with all the pain, the tribal disunity, bitterness, hatred, vergence etc is going through,we need a compansionate Leader, who will try to bring healing, unity, forgiveness and love in the nation. You seem to have these qualities of bringing such things as you promote politics of morality and integrity.Let God watch over you as it draws near to happen.

Dr Mumba, your political fights are more spiritual than physical.God will see you through-It’s like the Joseph and David stories in the Bible.Whatever God starts,He brings it to pass-He completes it.

Of all leaders jostling for power in Zm, the only one I find to be sober, mature, sincere and accomodating is Zayelo Lubinda even though squeezed by deadly gumblers, he maintains his cool. Am sure if Mr Sata appointed him VP today, PF would be assured of 60% vote. If only Sata could listen.

So Icon, since MMD was there for 20yrs,so we can experiment with other parties,so that they too can make mistakes.Like PF has been a disaster. So another Party can be experimented to see whether it can do better than both MMD and PF.So it’s really a gamble.Gambling is chancing,it may or may not work.I would rather go to the Party at least I know who have learnt a lesson not to repeat similar mistakes.

Imwe bantu. You have mistakenly constantly told Nevers to leave Politics and go back to pulpit. The word “POLITICS”comes from a GREEK word “POLITIK” which simply means:Human Governance. So both Pastor and Politician they manage human Life.In my view the man who qualifies to manage Human Life,is a person who has the Spirit of God-because to manage God’s pipo well, you need to have the Spirit of the owner(creator) of the same human beings. In this case Dr Mumba being a Pastor qualifies to to rule God’s pipo.
