Kaputa Fisherman Gets 25 years For Defilement
A FISHERMAN of Nsumbu Village in Kaputa has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling his nine-year-old step-sister and infecting her with HIV.
Ndola High Court judge Petronella Ngulube sitting in Mansa recently, jailed Samuel Mpepo, 21, after upholding his conviction by the Kaputa Magistrate’s Court.
“The prosecutrix was well known to the convict but he still took advantage of her,” Mrs Justice Ngulube said.
Particulars of the offence are that Mpepo on November 19 last year in Kaputa had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16.
During trial, the girl, a Grade five pupil, told the court that on the fateful day around 14:00 hours, she was with her brother in the kitchen when Mpepo called her to his bedroom.
“He asked me to get money under his beddings and as I tried to do that, he grabbed me by the neck and forced himself on me,” she said.
She said her mother found Mpepo in the act and rebuked him.
“He started arguing with my mother and she took me to Shikampampa clinic where we were referred to the police,” she said.
The girl said they were later referred to Kaputa District Hospital where she was diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection.
In defence, Mpepo denied defiling the girl.
Mpepo claimed that the girl’s mother was upset because he used to send the girl to buy cigarettes for him.
“She used to accuse me of having sex with her daughter using charms which I denied,” Mpepo said.
Passing the sentence, Mrs Justice Ngulube said: “There are aggravating factors in this matter as the prosecutrix was only nine years old,” Mrs Justice Ngulube said.

I always comment on this behaviors ****** bembas have,Why always defile step children,inprenanting biological children & having sex with dogs only happening with bembas only not other tribes?Is it because of Sata now people are not having money to pay prostitutes for sex?Next time vote with your heads not thighs in order to end this problem of defilements & rape cases in bemba land.

Defilement cases we do not know what to do.Zambians for how long are you going to be cheated by a witch doctor that by sleeping with a young girl you will get rich?What about him?Is he rich in your normal thinking?When you started your business you were walking.God bless you one way or the other you agree with the witch doctor’s suggestions of short cuts and you end up defiling innocent Children.CASTRATE THEM IT IS TOO MUCH

I am not talking tribes here, but seriously how can a 21 year old have a nine year old step daughter in this generation? How old is his wife? He is even HIV positive!!! Awe kwena, I think 25 year sentence is not enough. He has destroyed the future of the little girl
