POWER 5 INDENI 1
POWER Dynamos yesterday demonstrated their seriousness towards reclaiming the Super Division title when they demolished Indeni in Week 17 match at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.
Striker Jimmy Ndhlovu scored a brace with Kennedy Mudenda, Richard Kasonde and Ignatius Lwipa contributing a goal each for Power, who last won the title in 2011.
Mudenda fired Power into the lead in the fourth minute with a superb strike before Ndhlovu double the lead in the 24 minute after combining well with Julius Situmbeko and Lwipa.
Indeni pulled one back in the 34 minutes through Sam Chuma following some defensive lapses.
Two minutes later, Kasonde added his name on the score sheet with a superb header to give his side a 3-1 lead at half time.
On resumption, Power, who were in a class of their own, extended the lead on 57 minutes through Mudenda before Ndhlovu sealed victory on 75 minutes benefitting from Mudenda’s pass.
Power have 34 points, five behind leaders Zanaco, who beat Green Eagles 2-0 in Choma.
ZESCO 2 POLICE 2
At the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, CHISHALA MUSONDA reports that Konkola Mine Police twice came from behind to hold title chasers Zesco United to a draw.
Zesco are now four points behind leaders Zanaco, who have 39 points.
Bornwell Silengo put Zesco in the drive seat on 41 minutes when he came to meet a Maybin Mwaba cross but Clement Mwape levelled matters for the bottom placed visitors just after restart.
But Zesco hit-man Jackson Mwanza restored his side’s lead in a goal-melee on 65 minutes but Police proved resilient with Andrew Tampwila’s clinical finish earning a previous point for his outfit.
Zesco go to 35 points and Police are on 12.
ARROWS 1 WARRIORS 3
Kabwe Warriors thumped struggling Red Arrows in a thrilling encounter at Nkoloma Stadium to increase pressure on coach Osward Mutapa.
Warriors capitalised on a defensive error in the sixth minutes when Jacob Phiri pounced on a loose ball to put the visitors ahead in the 6th minute.
Arrows’ shaky defence was again punished in the 23rd minute when Kabeya Mulume beat goalkeeper Medson Luwawa with a low shot to double the lead and Lameck Kafwaya’s completed the rout in the 64th minute with a long range shot.
Substitute Patrick Ngoma netted a consolation from the near post 10 minutes before the final whistle. The goal, however, came rather too late to save his side from an embarrassing home loss.
Warriors inch their tally to 16 points, one behind Arrows.
ROAN 0 NAPSA 0
Roan started serving their five match ban from playing at Kafubu Stadium in Luanshya with a barren draw against Napsa Stars at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe, MULWANDA LUPIYA reports.
The match could only at 45 minutes after normal kick off as referee Milton Mweenda refused to start the match until the host Roan managed to organise police officers to provide security.
