One would have mistaken the multitude that gathered at Lusaka’s East point discoteque last weekend to witness a show by rapper Bobby East for a political rally.
The venue was jam packed as early as 20 hours and it was clear thatn people were anxious to see the rapper in person.
It was the rapper’s first show since an infamous sex video involving him and Miss NIPA 2012 Ruth Mukanga emerged and went viral in July.
However, Bobby East was not the only one responsible for the massive crowd. Ruff Kaida, the night’s other performer, is equally a crowd puller.
From the time he controversially appeared on stage in a coffin about three months ago, fans have nicknamed Ruff Kaida ‘ the ‘undertaker.’
Before the two artistes took to the stage, the deejay decided to treat the audience to mediocre performances.
This angered people who later began shouting “let’s go Bobby let’s go!
Ruff Kaida took to stage shortly after midnight singing Kachabe’ from his latest release.
He excited fans with his crazy stage skills more especially when he dished songs such as Bwete, Mwechilibwe, Nikamisiya and Tente.
Bobby East eventually appeared on stage amid cheers.
Before proceeding with his performance, Bobby East addressed his fans on the issue of the 12-minute video for which he and Mukanga were arrested and formally charged with producing and distributing pornographic materials by police.
The rapper said he was only human.
“A lot has been said about me but I didn’t go to the media to say anything. I wanted to come face you, my fans. We all make mistakes and you my fans do not know me for making mistakes, you know me for making music. So DJ please drop the music,” he explained.
And singer Petersen in a brief interview said he was happy that the rapper had moved on.
“What happened to Bobby East is something that can happen to anyone. We face a lot of ups and downs in life. I’m happy whatever we discussed with him has come to pass, it is a step further and we are proud of him. He even has more fans now than before,” said Petersen.

Perhaps the male crowd want the d.i.c.k formula while the girls want to have a ‘piece’ of him. So, what else can make him famous?
