Mwense Mob Beats Man For Stealing Goat

A Mwense man is battling for his life at Lukwesa rural health centre after he was badly beaten by a mob of locals for allegedly stealing a goat.

Luapula division police commissioner, Malcolm Mulenga, confirmed the incident in a statement.

He stated that Darious Chola of Kateta village in chief Lukwesa’s area stole a goat valued at K400 from Augustine Mambwe, 48, of the same area.

Mulenga stated that the incident happened on Monday around 04:00 hours.

“The suspect was badly beaten by a mob which arrested him,” he stated.

Mulenga stated that the suspect sustained a cut to the head and another on the left leg. He also complained of chest pain.

“The goat which was stolen has been recovered and the culprit has been admitted at the said health centre,” he stated.

Mulenga revealed that a docket of stock theft had been opened against the suspect.
