The MMD is saddened by the admission by Labour Minister Fackson Shamenda that there are high levels of corruption in the country’s civil service under the Patriotic Front (PF) government.
MMD National Secretary Muhabi Lungu has reminded the Patriotic Front (PF) government to be mindful that fighting corruption was one the promises it made and used as a campaign tool in the 2011 general elections.
Mr. Lungu has told Qfm news that the onus is therefore on the PF government to ensure it does the right thing by ensuring that corruption is fought wherever it shows its ugly head.
He says the PF should begin by ensuring that the Anti-Corruption Commission is allowed to operate as independently as possible and allowed to pursue people suspected of wrong doing without being necessarily selective.
Mr. Lungu states that in this regard President Michael Sata should additionally stop making statements that appear to be directives to the ACC especially when it comes to investigating alleged wrong doings of Cabinet Ministers.

ITS A SHAME FOR MUHABE LUNGU TO START EDUCATING PF ON HOW THEY SHOULD FIGHT CORRUPTION WHEN HIS PARTY HAD THEIR OWN TIME TO APPLY WHAT LUNGU IS ADVISING. PF MINISTERS ARE SO COURAGEOUS TO ADMIT CORRUPTION AMONG CIVIC SERVANT WHICH MMD OFFICIALS NEVER WANTED TO POINT OUT. SO BA LUNGU LETS ALWAYS LEARN TO BE FAITHFUL WHEN IT COMES TO POLITICS. IN FACTS IT THE MMD WHO BROUGHT CORRUPT HENCE YOU ARE THEY ONE WHO HAS LEFT THIS EVIL ACT THE PF IS TRYING TO FIGHT. IN UNIP PEOPLE NEVER HEARD OF CORRUPTION, BRIBE UNTIL MMD CAME TO POWER AND INTRODUCED THIS DISEASES IN THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE.
