Nawakwi Advises Govt on Education Funding

Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi has advised government to make use of suspense accounts which have excess monies and channeled the funds to the education sector.

Ms Nawakwi has told Qfm News in an interview that there are quite a number of Suspense accounts at National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA), Zambia State Insurance and Workers Compensation Fund which are merely being abused by greedy people.

Ms.Nawakwi says all the social security schemes are just being abused while the future of the young Zambians who require higher education is being wasted.

She states the monies in these institutions can help support students yearning for higher education.

The FDD president explains that this money which is lying idle can be taken to ZANACO and allow the bank to structure loans for students.

Ms Nawakwi says it is unfortunate that even those who are extra brilliant with good points are failing to get into the university because their parents cannot afford to pay for their education.

Ione time commented on Napsa surplus money. How does a pension have excess funds. One to not is that Napsa’s instrument under which it was formed in vague which needs to be amended. Those that are single meaning without children or married upon their death lose out on their pension, disregarding their parents who go away with nothing. Thus people’s money not govt or surplus to go to suspense
workmans compensation another story so biased when it comes to payments.
The idea of channeling it to education fund the better and again let it spread to all universities be it private or govt. Majority of children at these private universities had 10 point en below but because of this corruption every where even in selection later alone awarding bursaries. Let it be a rotating fund for all because these funds are a lot. Napsa busy into investing people’s money en putting strings when paying claims. pliz give money when its due and lump sums. some whre there work there is no pension and too little gratuity all they ve is napsa ed then you dedect what to give them
