CBU Lecturers, Staff Down Tools

copperbelt universityLecturers and academic staff at the Copperbelt University- CBU- have downed tools demanding for the removal of their Vice Chancellor Professor Naison Ngoma and the entire CBU management.

The lecturers have passed a vote of no confidence in Professor Ngoma whom they have accused of lacking academic focus.

Speaking at a media briefing in Kitwe on Wednesday, Copperbelt University Academics Union President Mwiya Songolo says the CBU academic staff are demanding for the resignation of Professor Ngoma.

Mr Songolo further called on Government to audit CBU.

He also accused Professor Ngoma of contracting huge loans on behalf of the institution without consulting employees and academic staff.

The CBU lecturers have further urged Government to dissolve the current university council.

The union has accused the university council of failing to control CBU management.

Recently in Lusaka University of Zambia Vice Chancellor professor Sephen Simukanga together with three other principal officers resigned from their positions.

Not enough bite, or rather the grounds are rather flimsy, nay childish. All these years, bane, produce grounds that are strong and which sensible citizens will support and endorse, as did your counterparts at UNZA.

No need for that action. Ubupuba bweka bweka. These guys have been fighting the removal of Prof Ngoma from the word go.firstly they did not accept his appointment together with Dr Chama saying he is too young to hold such a position of deputy vice chancellor. Ama rubbish yekayeka. Long live Prof Ngoma and Dr Chama. I have realised that educated people are the ones who are more ubufontini than the opposite.
