Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) president Charles Milupi has charged that Zambia’s economy is in the Intensive Care Unit.
Mr Milupi says he does not see any sign on the horizon that the current state of the Zambian economy can be reversed.
He says his party is concerned that the poor performance of the country’s economy has now become the greatest crisis the nation is presently facing.
Mr. Milupi says what is more disturbing is that the party in government does not seem to be taking the bad state of the economy very seriously.
In an interview with Qfm News, Mr. Milupi notes that in trying to resolve some of the challenges, the PF government has come up with measures which are making the people’s living conditions even worse.
He has cited the hike in the price of fuel as one such measure that has pushed further the cost of living in the country, besides the load shedding which is also affecting productivity in the country.
The ADD president states that the PF government has put the country’s economy in the ICU due to lack of fiscal discipline to adhere even to its own short term plans.
He says this is however the heavy price the people of Zambia have paid for having not considered certain issues when electing leaders in government.
Mr. Milupi says people of Zambia will continue to pay a heavy price as long as they ignore issues that matter when electing leaders in government.

Zambian economy is now like the infamous Titanic, economic meltdown water is gushing-in at the bottom of the ship, while Zambians are sleeping in the middle section and the PF Govt is merrying and dancing at the top deck with wine glasses in their hands like nothing is wrong – and Edgar C. Lungu is asleep heavily medicated at the wheel.

Continue politicking. If Zambia’s economy is in ICU,then Namibia and South Africa are also in ICU because our fuel prices are almost the sane. The difference is 40 ngwee despite them havung direct access to sea ports.
Zambia’s economy is still vibrant. Problem is not everyone is putting in their best. Some of you spend time looking for faults instead of working. If you were serious you would start by giving praise where it is due. That is why the zambian people just ignore you.

you are one of the biggest fools that side of the equator. Give praise for what iwe? People are suffering and you say give praise? Who praises poverty? As we have been saying, some of you have grown accustomed to being poor such that you see it as a good thing. Please open your mind and realise that as a zambian you are far more worth than the PF makes you think.

That is true, we have a lot of arm-chair critics. It is even more disappointing that an electrical engineer of Mr Milupi’s caliber could blame load-shedding on pf govt.

JJB I wouldnt agree more with you. Spot on mate. We in the UPND echo the sentiments of milupi. We ask milupi and any other parties to join forces with us inorder to salvage this country of ours. We onlyhave one zambia and one nation. Lungu and his cronies have lost the plot. They do not care about you and your kids. For them once they leave government they will be sitting comfortably with foreign accounts and their kids in foreign nations. We ask that you all vote UPND so that together we can move forward. And, apparently, you declare that Milupi’s vision is inferior to HH’s & thus he should vote UPND? Why not the reverse? Milupi is a president, sit down with him, compare notes & reach a midpoint. Your supremacy exists only in the blogworld & with Coaster Mwansa. That is how a once-upon-time Prince Cobra got puffed up to think that he could go it alone but was deflated at the ballz in a very loud & humiliating beat up.
It is coming again. Sooner & more sound this time!

Take that advice and give it to pf. Why won’t the pf listen to any opposition views? You are a victim of your own words kiki. How many times have we asked you chaps to engage us maturely? All we get are insult or foolish retorts such as the one above. Your time is up

Mr. Milupi should provide a positive solution to load shedding because it also affects him. Opposition without an alternative solution does not help matters.

Much as some of th people appreciate th poor economy th country is facing we on th other side feel Lungu en his colleagues should critically consider other divergent views that maybe of great help in resurstating th economy..i find it very shallow reasoning by some bloggers who try to compare our economy en that of S/A yet we ar always troting to buy things frm there..

Hey, what is wrong with going to SA to buy goods? After all one is making a choice. I find it strange when some persons say that the country is “on auto pilot”, “in intensive care”, etc etc. Surely if our economy is so bad, I fail to understand how our recent issue of the eurobond was over-subscribed by over USD 500 million! Could it be that outsiders have more cofidence in our economy than us, indegennous Zambians? The opposition are burrying their heads in the sand; just like the proverbial ostrich! PF shall win, mark my words!!

Winning an election does not signify good economy or governance dispensation is appreciated by masses. Even th dullest person like CK can win depending on th popularity of th party he stands on & this does not quantify him a good leader..milupi is speaking as a spectator and should not be seen as an enemy of th government as some of u perceive everyone who speak against our dear president..a wise man acknowledges advice but a fool despise it..
