President Lungu Assures Mwata

PRESIDENT Lungu has re-assured the Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people of Government’s commitment to delivering on the promises the Patriotic Front made.
He also said Government has remained relentless in its efforts to uplift the living standards of the people of Luapula and Zambia as a whole.
The President said this at the 2015 Mutomboko ceremony, which was held yesterday in Mwansabombwe.
Mr Lungu said the creation of new districts, which include Mwansabombwe, and the rapid development that has followed are testimony of the holistic development plan that is well-thought out.
He said the development strategy is aimed at maximising Government’s ability to reach all parts of the country with the required resources and services to improve the livelihood of all Zambians.
President Lungu also said traditional ceremonies such as the Mutomboko provide a platform for people to learn more about their traditional cultures and heritage.
“The diversity in our heritage, culture and the harmony in which we co-exist as a nation of 73 tribes has been and will always be a shining example of the characteristics that will make Zambia a beacon of peace. It is with this spirit that we continue to celebrate our diversity in unity under our national creed and motto of ‘One Zambia, One Nation’,” he said.
And President Lungu said Government has provided a platform for traditional leaders to take a leading role in achieving economic and social development in the country.
He urged traditional leaders to take advantage of such available platforms to improve the lives of their people.
Mr Lungu also said Government has repossessed part of the idle land that has been under lease to Kawambwa Tea Estate.
President Lungu said the move is aimed at resolving the current operational challenges the company is grappling with.
“My government is cognisant of the plight of the former employees of Kawambwa Tea Estate, who lost their jobs due to operational problems at the company. To date, the former workers have not been paid their terminal benefits, thereby making it difficult for their families to make ends meet,” he said.
He has also warned that contracts of erring contractors will be terminated and that Government will seek compensation.
Mr Lungu has also warned non-performing contractors that Government is in the process of assessing the quality and pace of their work.
He said Government will not only cancel contracts of those found wanting but will also seek legal redress and compensation from erring contractors on behalf of Zambians.
Earlier, President Lungu said despite his busy schedule, he found it necessary to attend the Mutomboko ceremony because of the significance it holds.
He said this when he paid a courtesy call on Mwata Kazembe at his palace.
And in a speech read for him by spokesperson Chriticles Mwansa, Mwata Kazembe urged Government to implement stiffer laws to protect the girl-child from early marriages.
The Mwata also commended Government for allowing procedure of succession to freely take its course within the chiefdom.

This chap has failed to address the nation and give us solutions to the many problems we are facing and yet he goes to this small chief dom and makes a speech. What is he scared of. He thinks running away from his problems will solve them. He has no sense of priority. He goes to deal with plight of kawambwa Tea workers something a minister can deal with. Vote upnd

To the contrary HE is addressing the nation on a one on one basis because that’s when he can hear their views and cries unlike a press conference where journalists will be asking him about gbm masebo etc all irrelevant questions

Since when did the factual term small become a insult. So to you that chief dom is bigger than zambia? Do you know how many square kilometres zambia is in comparison to the chiefdom, which is bigger?

You are daft.where have we stated that it is not part of zambia. Very dull chap. It is part of zambia but smaller than zambia hence my point that lungu would rather address a smaller unit than the whole country which is suffering. Get that in your thick skull ba pf

Addressing the nation and finding solutions to many problems is one of the development strategy Mr Lungu is doing. Its only pity that the bitter and critic people are the ones misleading the public. To them they are blind. They want to crochet or marking noise out of nothing.

UPND supporters are really a hard act to follow. To them press conferences are a necessity & form part of being a president. Most people ignore them because of incessant critism that knows no boundaries. Insufferable lunatics.
On power cut, HE ECL should invite Nawakwi, HH, Winter & Milupi, take a drive to Kariba with then, show them the water levels and then tell them that, the PF and it’s government didn’t drink the water nor can they pee enough to fill the dam back for maximum power generation .
Opposition partiez in Zambia are senseless in criticism.

Iwe NEZ, who on earth do you think you are to insult His Excellency The President of The Republic of Zambia by calling him a “chap”? Niwe ci kabalwe waumfwa, kabili wikabwekeshapo!! Iwe ci nudala tawa kewata nano, uli cikopo, kabili uli cikolopo! On top of that you insult our Paramount Chief The Mwata Kazembe by calling him “a small chief”! Do you know that the Lunda-Luba Kingdom stradles the Luapula Province and a very big expanse of the DRC? And you have the audacity to call this “a small chiefdom”! You fool! I am sure that if The Senior Chief Mukuni, if he were to be told about you utterances, he would be very annoyed with you! H.E. ECL has the liberty to hold a Press Conference at any time which may be concenient to him! Many countries in the South African sub-region, are experiencing load-shedding as a result of low water levels in the mighty Zambezi River. As for the Zambian economy, you stated that the economy has collapsed!! Whoever conferred that PhD on you must have their head examined!! Do you know that Zambia very recently floated a USD1.2 billion Euro-Bond which was over–subscribed in excess of USD500 million? Investors have a lot of confidence in our country!! THIS COUNTRY IS NOT GREECE!! Your hatred for H.E. ECL emanates from the 20 January loss of the presidential election. Your hh is going to lose the 2016 elections, by the widest ever-to-be recorded margin for a presidential election!! Elyo nomba akeshiba ukutila GBM alatuka amasele!! Viva H.E. ECL!!! Viva!!! Abash hh!! Abash!!

Issue of loadshading… Zambia we lack development & research, we hav too much water sources,.. The reason y pipo looks 2 gvt is in zambia we politicize anythng, political parties ar too poor to manage themselves & they’ll nevr addmit tht they av failed… Bane we acknowledge tht God sustains us bt political cadres ar gettng rich as th expense of poor pipo… Life in Zambia is hard,.. Surely can we hav 1500-2000 pupils against 50 teacher, when other trained teachers av no employment, 2000 cacthment area against 1 trained medical experts & community health workers (untrained), cleaners givng out medicine, taking temperature, i was shoked th 1 who was holding th thermometer did nt kno normal readings… & tis z happenin while trained health workers ar nt employed,..etc
My point is a gud listenin gvt shud adress such, its too much
