Inonge Says Sorry To Tongas Over Chama’s ‘Sin’

VICE-PRESIDENT Inonge Wina has unreservedly apologised to the people of Southern Province on behalf of the Patriotic Front (PF) over the alleged derogatory remarks attributed to secretary general Davies Chama.
Mrs Wina said it is sad that the remarks attributed to Mr Chama angered the people of Southern Province.
She said this in Parliament yesterday in response to a question from Mazabuka Central member of Parliament (MP) Garry Nkombo (UPND), who wanted to know why the Vice-President has not issued a comprehensive statement on the matter despite promising to do so.
This was during the Vice-President’s question time.
Inonge“It is very unfortunate that the remarks made by the secretary general of the Patriotic Front angered the people of Southern Province.
“As a party, we believe in unity and I want to apologise on behalf of the party to the people of Southern Province,” Mrs Wina said.
The Vice-President said there is need for Zambians to start a new leaf and work in unity to help foster development in the country.
Without divulging details, Mrs Wina said the PF has taken disciplinary action against Mr Chama over the matter.
Meanwhile, Mrs Wina has directed the Mines Safety Department to step up its supervisory mechanism to curb rising mine accidents in the country.
She said Government is deeply concerned about the fatalities being recorded and demanded that mining companies step up safety measures to secure lives of workers.
Mrs Wina said Government values the lives of people working in the mines and wants their safety to be guaranteed at all times.
She said the department should put up a vigorous supervisory mechanism to curb accidents.
The Vice-President said this in response to a question from Kapiri Mposhi MP Eddie Musonda (PF), who wanted to know what measures the government is taking to address accidents in the mines.
And Mrs Wina has assured lecturers at the Copperbelt University (CBU) that they would not be fired but that Government is taking necessary measures to address their plight.
She said Government is working with the CBU council to ensure that lecturers call off their strike.
Mrs Wina said this in response to a question from Lukulu West MP Mishek Mutelo (UPND), who wanted to know whether lecturers at CBU would be fired following the expiry of an ultimatum given to them.

We thank you for accepting that the pf is tribal even when the so called president was not able to see it. Your apology confirms your tribalism as a party

Even if Wina’s apology may mean well but it would have added more weight if it came from the chatter box Chama himself. Secondly Lungu would ve also castigated Chama publicly to show his displeasure and discipline is that too much to ask from a party leader?

If no apology was given, you people would have been complaining. Now the apology has been given (because you said it was the PF at fault) you say we want Chama himself to apologise and expecting5o be fired. Nothing is good for you!
So @Spartacas, what value would firing Chama add to upnd oral the Tonga Chiefs? Get a move on! There are important issues for you work on than keep crying about Chama.

I find it appalling that one should not see that it was not politics at play but BEMBA chauvinism against TONGAS at play and a slap on ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION. BEMBAS and TONGAS are not/will never be tribal cousins. The dirty jokes (IFI SAPO) should be weighed and appropriate for the occasion and not unchecked..by God – ask Kambwili, he too was loose until Sata put a STOPPER in place. Now what is so special with this lumberjack or are these signs that some people in the party are Bulldozers? What hidden power that this man have that mutes ECL. Anyway, time is the best pill…I rest my case.

why should Bemba people be blamed for the misfortunes of upnd not to ever form government, after all the two most top jobs are not held by Bemba persons.mind you Bemba is not even a big tribe compared to Tongas. this rivalry must stop,HH must join pf as it was during the packed.GBM must take up the mantle in upnd as president and this rivalry will end.
