UNRULY PF cadres yesterday attacked relatives of UPND national women’s chairperson Namakau Kabwiku at her residence.
Speaking shortly after the attack, Kabwiku, who was in the company of her husband, said that the cadres took advantage of the absence of security at her home and gained entry.
“Around 08:00 hours, I left home. Some PF cadres in two Toyota Corolla motor vehicles came to our house with a view of attacking me. When the cadres arrived, they opened the gate and went to my tenants’ houses to inquire about my whereabouts,” Kabwiku said. “When my visiting cousin Kawema Likukela confronted them and asked them to explain their mission, to his surprise, the cadres started beating him and ended up slicing his lip. Another cousin who tried to intervene also had his lip sliced with a knife.”
She narrated that when the children who had been playing outside realised that there was a confrontation at the gate, they alerted her husband who called police for help.
“My husband quickly called police from Chelstone to alert them about the presence of armed cadres, and police quickly made their way here. Unfortunately, the cadres fled the place before the arrival of police,” said Kabwiku.
“If they want, let them kill me…If it means dying so shall it be,” said Kabwiku.
