PF Youths Call For Attorney Generals Resignation For ‘Misleading The Nation’

PF youths in Lusaka have given Attorney General Likando Kalaluka 24 hours in which to resign or face their wrath for making a statement which they describe as “misleading to the nation”.

Prior to the elections, Kalaluka held a press briefing where he stated that in an event that President Edgar Lungu’s election was challenged through a petition in court, he would have to step aside and allow the Speaker to take over.

He stated that the law permitted the President to remain in power if there was an election rerun, but added that the Constitutional provisions did not allow him to continue in office in the face of his election being petitioned.

After the UPND filed a petition challenging President Lungu’s election, the PF youths condemned Kalaluka for the position he took.

“As PF youths, we would like to register our disappointment with the Antonel (sic) General Mr Likando Kalaluka for misleading the country regarding the interpretation of the Constitution. As PF youths, we want to commend the ECZ for the job well done and the peaceful manner in which the elections were conducted, which has therefore given a lot of confidence in the commission by both the people of this great country and the international community. We therefore demand that the presidential inauguration should go as planned on 23rd of August by the Cabinet office as we do not want to bring about unnecessary tension into this country as further delays are only a recipe for confusion and possible war,” read the statement signed by Julius Komaki, the PF town centre branch chairman, Intercity branch chairman Eddie Gowa, vice chairman Francis Muchemwa, vice secretary John Mwansa and Darryl Mbilitu.

“We do not want this group of selfish individuals who are desperate to get power by all means and are busy paying people in the streets to bring about instability and disorder.”

The youths said the cartel were playing cards with some members of the judiciary.

“And as PF youths, we are watching over you and will not allow these selfish individuals to bring instability in the national as the country has been well headed by the able leadership of His Excellence the President Edgar C. Lungu. We as PF youths therefore demand the AG to resign on moral grounds within 24 hours as we know his moves and his cartel mind to bring this coutry into war and instability,” read the statement.

“We further warn him that should he continue occupying office, we will do a revolution as we did on Wynter Kabimba.”
