GBM: Leaders In Govt Competing To Steal

LEADERS in the PF government are competing against each other to steal from the Treasury, says Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM). And the UPND vice-president who is fondly referred to as GBM, says President Edgar Lungu is on his own as many PF members were not with him.

Meanwhile, GBM says Zambians are yet to see the worst economic performance under the leadership of President Lungu whom he described as visionless and greedy. In an interview, GBM said even PF members were no longer with President Lungu.

“Corruption in the PF government is unprecedented. We thought that Rupiah Banda and Frederick Chiluba were corrupt but they can’t be equated to what is happening in the current government under the leadership of President Edgar Lungu. The chaps in his government are competing to steal from the treasury. They [PF leaders] don’t worry about Zambians,” GBM said.

He added that the UPND in 2017 went through a rough patch which saw its leader, Hakainde Hichilema, being detained for alleged treason charges. GBM added that in 2018, the PF government must stop the political witch-hunt of UPND leaders and members.

“This should come to a stop in 2018, they should stop it,” GBM said of his expectations on the political scene this year.

“Zambia’s economy in 2017 has been the worst and Zambians are yet to experience more misery. These chaps in government have no vision, they don’t know if they are going sideways or backwards. However, we don’t want to cry over spilled milk, Zambians made a mistake and those who voted for Edgar Lungu now know it, I did not vote for him, but as a way forward, I would like to say that we have learnt a lesson.”

He claimed that the people who had voted for President Lungu did not trust him anymore.

“They are not with him, even the people in PF are not with him, Lungu is alone,” GBM said.

He said God was watching and would not let Zambians suffer for too long.

“God will soon find a way out for Zambians; He can’t let his people suffer for too long at the hands of greedy people who are visionless. What we are going through is a shame and God will find a way out very soon,” GBM said.

On the future of the UPND, GBM said the opposition political party was growing in strength every day, hence the PF’s arrest of Hichilema over the Mongu road rage.

“We are strong and still united, we will always be there for the people of Zambia and we need to look at the how best we shall alleviate the sufferings of the Zambians once they elect us into government. We need to do things differently from the PF by not being corrupt. Zambians need to smile. Currently, businessmen and women are not happy because foreigners have taken over the sector, day-in, day-out, our money is going out of the country, we need to stop it,” said GBM, who wished all Zambians “a happy 2018 with God’s abundant blessings”.
