Third Year Student Of BA Economics At UNZA Makes Strides In Music Career

JAMES Jasiel Ngwenya is a third year student at Zambia’s highest learning institution, the University of Zambia (UNZA) pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Economics.

Aside taking school seriously and surviving the daunting task of having to clear at university in each exam since inception, James has a talent in singing and actually writing songs for other artists.

On stage,he calls himself JAY JAY and he has so far six (6) songs to his name all recorded at HYBREX STUDIOS of SOLVE-D.

Five (5) of his songs can be accessed on Afrofire and three (3) of them can be accessed on Indimba

Jay Jay has so far worked with UNIQUE whom he featured in a song titled OFFLINE.

He says he is further looking forward to collaborate with other big names in the industry.

A week ago, the 23 year-old singer released one of his songs titled My Life Is A Movie -a song that has brought controversy among listeners with some doubting his nationality and saying his is not Zambian.

“This track is now available on Indimba for free download to be precise,” Jay Jay says.

The young artist says education for him is a weapon to fine-tuning his music talent.

He is for the idea that, only if artists can learn the true worth of education can they understand the dynamics in which they can grow their brands beyond the limits of local markets.

He is a rare type among many local artists whose only asset is their voice. Jay Jay wants to go further and be able to analyse the economic concepts of his country and play a role beyond offering educative, entertaining and informative music to masses.
