The Metrological Department has projected cold temperatures of between 18 and 5 degrees Celsius with Kabwe town having the lowest temperature at 5 degrees Celsius in the next few days.
The department has disclosed that between today, 5th and 9th July 2018, Muchinga, Eastern, Southern and Lusaka provinces will be mostly cloudy with sunny intervals, cool to cold conditions.
And the department through its Acting Director Edson Nkonde in an interview with Phoenix News has dispelled social media reports that Zambia will in the next few days experience exceptionally cold weather with temperatures reaching as low as 2 degrees Celsius.
Mr. Nkonde has explained that even if it will be cold, it will not be as cold as is been reported.
Zambia’s neighbors that include South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and southern Botswana have already started recording low temperatures.
