Precious Longwe In More Trouble

PRECIOUS Longwe, who was last year sentenced to death by hanging for shooting dead her husband, risks serving another jail term if found guilty of stealing K200,000 from BancABC. This is in a case Longwe, 31, a former BancABC employee, is charged with theft.
Longwe is accused of stealing K200,000 from the bank, which the police officers who were investigating the murder of her husband Akakanda Litebele, found in the matrimonial bedroom.

It is alleged that Longwe, on May 24, 2016, in Lusaka, stole K200,000 from BancABC where she was employed as a customer service officer.
When the matter came up yesterday, magistrate Nthandose Chabala set August 22 this year as date for judgement.
During trial, the court heard that Longwe was in charge of cash management for one of BancABC’s automated teller machines (ATM) which allegedly had missing cash.

Meanwhile, the case in which United Party for National Development (UPND) vice-president for administration Geoffrey Mwamba is charged with proposing violence against President Edgar Lungu failed to take off yesterday. This is because the last State witness, who was supposed to testify in the matter, was not before the court. Mwamba, 52, was arrested for allegedly proposing violence in connection with a statement he made that he would go for President Lungu’s throat.
