A man of Mindolo township in Kitwe is demanding a refund of K4,000 he gave his pastor as tithe after learning that the man of God was allegedly having an affair with his wife. Collins Ngosa wants his money from Email Kasonde, whom he has sued before a Kitwe local court. Ngosa told the court that he was working in the mines and retired in 2013.

He said that when he was paid his retirement benefits, he gave his church K4,000 as tithe to thank God for what He has done for him and his family. Ngosa said he took the money to the pastor in the company of his wife, but a few months later, he discovered affair with his wife.

“I decided to file for divorce in 2014 after I discovered that the pastor was having an affair with my wife. I have also sued my pastor so that he can pay back my K4,000 I gave him as tithe,” he said. Ngosa told the court that he decided to sue the pastor because he has a strong conviction that the two enjoyed the money together.

Kasonde admitted receiving K4,000 from Ngosa as tithe after he approached him that he wanted to thank God for the financial blessings. The pastor told the court that he received the money and handed it to the church secretary after which it was used to carry out church activities.

Kasonde said he will not give Ngosa back his money because he willingly gave it to him as a token of appreciation to God and not as a loan. Kitwe senior local court magistrate Frederick Ndhlovu dismissed the claim, saying Ngosa gave the money to the pastor with the intention of thanking God.
