A WIFE of New Kitwe residential area wept uncontrollably before collapsing after a Kitwe Local Court dissolved her marriage of nine years with her husband whom she accused of infecting her with HIV.
Appearing before Kitwe senior local court magistrate Frederick Ndhlovu was Fatima Maida, who was sued for divorce by her husband Chester Kalulua on grounds that she drinks beer heavily.

Maida, who was against the divorce, told the court that they got married in 2009 and that they have three children.
She testified before the court that she loves her husband despite his adulterous behaviour.

Maida said her husband does not respect her because he allegedly allows his girlfriends to insult her on the phone.
She told the court that in her nine years of marriage she has tested positive for sexually transmitted diseases because of her husband’s promiscuity.

“I do not want the court to grant us divorce because no person would want to get married to a person who has HIV. He married me when I was not taking the ARVs and so I will not agree to be divorced,” Maida said.
