THIEVES on Thursday broke into Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe’s house and stole household goods worth K27,000 and K4,000 cash.
And police in Kitwe yesterday picked up and interrogated three people who were found with batches of keys suspected to have been used in burglaries in the district.
Copperbelt Commissioner of Police Charity Katanga said in an interview yesterday that the theft at the mayor’s residence could have happened between 22:30 hours on Wednesday and 05:30 hours on Thursday.
Mrs Katanga said the thieves stole a 55inch Hisense plasma television set, two Lenovo laptops, one Dell E6400 laptop and K4,000 cash.
