THE pregnant woman of Mkushi who was allegedly raped by a male nurse while attending to her during an antenatal session has said she did not scream during the ordeal because her assailant covered her mouth with his hand.

The woman said the alleged rapist, Nicomed Banda, also pleaded with her not to tell her husband about the incident because he (Banda) would lose his job.

She also clarified that she is six months pregnant and not three as reported to police.

The suspect is in charge of Chitina Rural Health Centre and is currently in police custody, charged with rape.
